Sunday in Lakeside California (San Diego County), it's raining, it's 58 degrees and it's a great day to be alive.

I'm thankful for all the years I got to be involved in drag racing and all the friends my wife and I met along the way. Many of them are like Family. My wife and I went to their children's graduations and even their weddings, like I said they are like Family. This has been a great journey filled with wonderful memories so I thank God every day for the opportunity to have been a participant.

BTR,

Sounds like you have a pretty good outlook, even though you're having a few issues.

I take the car in on Tues. for body/paint. I got an estimate based on work to be done & photos; 75% is labor, 25% is materials. I imagine the price will go up when they see it person & it's not cheap to start with. The price came in 5k above budget & when it's over, I'm sure it will be 10k over. The fiberglass front end/trunk lid (not installed) is a mess. Plus, I need to have them do some custom mods to fiberglass pieces also. The almost 30-year-old cheap paint has to come off.

Bob,

Well said!

Hope all is well with everyone!

Good post. 65+ years ago I made my first pass at Davis-Monthan AFB in Tucson Arizona. Last pass I made was about a month ago at Roxboro,NC. I am now recovering from knee replacement surgery and don’t plan on it being my last pass. Plan to be at the WFC in July. My family is at the track. As a child we had nothing, no running water, electricity, no phone, no car, and we farmed with horses. How wonderful life has been. I wonder often what ever happened to so&so. Life has been good for me to still make a pass at 83 years old. Count your blessings and your friends.

Camaro was delivered to body & paint yesterday. We'll see how long it takes; the wag was two months.

Hope all is well with everyone!

I hope everyone is safe across the country from weather. We have had lots of tornadoes in the last week or so. I had 10" of rain in the last 9 days. Finally going to have 4 or 5 days of good weather.

Floyd sorry to hear your pride and joy is gone. Hope you got plenty of $$ out of it. Curtis I lived in Moore OK for awhile many years ago. Only took a couple of tornadoes to get me out of there. Locusts have hit here really loud. My knee replacement was 3 weeks ago yesterday and so far recovery is going better than expected. Sure is rough being grounded. Don’t know how this would have worked without friends helping out. One taking care of the yard is trays blessing. One daughter came and stayed a week. Anyway considering, everything is good here. Would like to see more missing members chime in here. Stay safe.

Fern. the old hay hauler isn't gone. It's now a performance show case for Turbosmarts new products. Sema was a blast and I'm glad I got to go.

Fern,
I tried to post some pictures from SAEMA bu Imgur isn't cooperating.
The Hay Hauler is back home and getting more upgrades.
Tubular A arms, new shocks all around, new disc brakes front and rear and rear end moved back an inch + for the big tires. Mount a chute and get ready for maiden pass.
Should be fun.

Nothing positive to report. A lot is going on with my elder sister. Not good.

I'm pretty sure I still have one or two race cars somewhere.

Loosing a track one mile away doesn't particularly make me feel like working on them.

Hope all's well with you all.

One month yesterday since knee replacement. Recovery seems to be going well. Walking pretty good, drove yesterday, but still enough pain to wake me at night. Life is good and I have lots of support. Everyone stay safe.

Good evening y'all. Been offline for a while, staying busy working my butt off. I could use an extra day added to the week, along with a couple hours in each day with how this year is starting off. Not gonna complain. Being busy is a lot better than searching for work and being broke... I'm optimistic with the transmission dilemma. Jerico doesn't have the input shaft I need in stock, but their parts guy says they should be doing a run of them soon. I may ship the cracked one to them so they can get any measurement details from it, instead of relying on me to give them the correct info. Last time, I gave them the part number, but the number doesn't show up very clearly where it's etched into the shaft, so I'll take credit for the mistake. The date of 2002 shows up nicely though. $100 mistake on me, along with lots of lost time = lesson learned.

Hey Fern, glad the knee is doing well. Hope you're back in the race car soon. Bionic knee might give ya an advantage over them young pups out there...

M120, hate to hear about your sister not doing well. I lost my older brother in 2016 after a couple tough years of poor health. Make sure to take the time to take care of yourself. Worrying over him and doing my best to help him did one helluva number on my physical and mental health.

Floyd, keep us posted on the Hay Hauler. Love the name. I saw the pics posted a while back. super nice looking hotrod.

B King, hope the paint/body project is going well.

Curtis, did y'all dry out yet? The news made it sound like that area got worked over pretty well.

Looking like I might finally get a 2 day weekend this week. Not sure I should tell the wife. She may try making plans for me.. LOL

Y'all have a great week.

William, we are still getting wet every day or every other day it seems. Had some pretty big hail last night that got my wife's 4Runner a bit. Rained all morning until about 30 minutes ago. Supposed to get hit again tonight and chances the rest of the week. We have had 85 tornadoes in 2024.

I really hate it for Iowa getting hit by that tornado. They just aren't used to them like we are and lots of people got hurt.

Hope everyone from DRR is doing well. Y'all have a great day.

Been a while since I chimed in. Still recovering from my surgery. Seems to be going well but still not sleeping. See surgeon Monday and see what he thinks. Been 6 weeks now so if I get to go to Bristol I need to get over this. Looks like a good race up at MIR that’s not mentioned here for some reason. Motor Holme got back yesterday all serviced and a new leveling jack installed. So that’s ready to go. Everyone stay safe
