I was there 40 some years ago. Got pics here of a Hudson dealership and a Brothel. Interesting place. You are having a good trip. Stop at Wall drug!

Fern,

We've been to Wall Drug many moons ago & skipped it today.

We're staying at the Deadwood Lodge tonight & tomorrow night. Doing the lodge thing tonight. Getting up in the morning to head for Mount Rushmore & Crazy Horse monument. Then in the afternoon we are catching a trolley from the Lodge to Deadwood to see the sights & probably some drinky!

Fri. when we checkout we are headed for Devils Tower! Then on to Jackson Hole WY.

We're staying at Rock Springs WY. instead of Jackson Hole. This will be our last night on the road. Looking forward to getting home tomorrow!

I thought about taking the race trailer, but I would have to put a toy in it. Plus, the milage goes in the dumper. I chose 17-18 mpg with the dually vs. 9 mpg.

I know that tired feeling. Age got anything to do with it? When youngest was 10-11 years old we left Baltimore and by the time we got back we had been in 3 countries and traveled 13,000mi in a conversion van. She will be 50 next year. Thats why I recognize some of the places you covered. Mama and I had planed another of those trips when covid struck and stopped it. Now she thinks we are to old, SHE thinks. Glad you had a good trip.

How about those NV little leaguers?

Reading your adventure, it sounds like y'all had a great trip. Needing a vacation upon returning from vacation is typically what happens to me. With how far, long and as much as y'all did, I'd expect to need the next week to sit/chill and recover. LOL. I had hope our last trip to Florida a couple years ago would work out somewhat like yours, except with only one week. Hoped to drive down and visit friends/family in FL,GA,SC on our way back to NC. Missed some friends in FL, saw cousins, aunts & uncles in GA and had to skip our planned stops in SC. Will plan better next go round.

No hotrod work this week/weekend again. Trying to keep up with equipment maintenance as time allowed. Still working on the diagnosis for my main zero turn mower also. Not convinced the engine is actually dying. runs too damm good, but making a lot of top end noise, like a bad pulley bearing. Appears no one makes an actual puller for the flywheel, so I need to make something of my own for it. The automotive pullers aren't large enough for it. Flywheel is 9-10 inches and bolt spacing is too wide. I have a plan, just need to get in there to make it happen.

Hope everyone has a great week out there...

Thanks, guys, for following along with the road trip. I think I shared the majority of the highlights. While I had a great time, some if not most of the trip was a blur. We packed in a lot in a month & 2 days! We started with 19000 miles on our dually & returned with 25600.

Believe it or not, I did have time to reflect on my life during the trip. There were a few stops along the way that triggered the reflection, not the purpose of the trip. The hardest part was going back to my hometown with my dad not being there, it has been a little over 2 years since he passed. I did have an early banana split in his memory at our favorite Dairy Queen. A tradition we've enjoyed on or around our same birthday.

Time to get back into race mode, it was a nice break!

Hope all is well with everyone!

2BKING is getting older & I get a reminder here in 4 days. Smile
