Mornin Barry,

There are still a bunch of good people on here. I blocked that Mike what's his name and Ed kind of disappeared. So I have no issues with anyone. This is a social site as well as an informative one. I've made some great friends here over the years and unfortunately some have checked out. I'm chasing Fern real close and have no real idea why I am still here. Believe me, it's not from good clean living or not taking risks. We have to admire Fern for still getting it on. I had to quit driving cause I can't get out of the hay hauler after I get in around the cage. But that's okay, I stay involved.
Y'all have a gooden and take care of yourselves.

Floyd, at the age of 72 I'm not slowing down (something may catch me). Just finished building a S/ST/bracket S-10. Now that I'm retired it's actually been very satisfying to complete this 2.5 year project. Age is a number and as long as I can walk and drive I'll keep racing. As Jimmy Valvano said " never, never give up".

Glad to see Chuck T back on here semi regularly. Nobody talks baseball anymore if he isn't around. LOL

The amount of views on this thread is amazing. I should spend some time looking back though it just to see the people I don't even realize being gone.

I can still drive but when we back halved the truck and put the 8.50 cage in It's real hard to get out of. I enjoy watching my boy drive anyhow.

One of the old timers I really miss is Guy Price. We use to get together out at Firebird, Vegas and Pomona. We had a ton of fun on this site.

Glad to see some of you back in here. Floyd and I been kicking the can down the road for awhile now Mike Hawks started this and he has been my friend for many years. I went to Cana, VA 2 years ago and found his house but no Mike. Last I knew he was ok but lives on Facebook now.

VA got complicated today. Had to have a negative Covid test to see Dr I needed. Got that done now in the holding pattern. I always feel pretty good but this cold has kicked my a$$. In just about 2 months I will be 81. Da m that’s old but l’ll still go race when I want to. To lazy to build any more race cars. Got a good car and a good engine builder. And most of my friends are at the track. Everyone stay safe

Howdy all. Someone left the freezer open on the fridge, it is cold up here. Currently it is 2 degrees. I'm hitting the "I'm sick of winter" phase that happens every year. Seems to roll in a little earlier every year as I get older. Floyd, the way your neighbor's generator was going, that's been my boiler this month.

Fern, I hope you are on the mend. Up this way, there is a nasty flu bug going around. Kick it and stay healthy so I can see you at the WFC in July.

Barry, agreed. Lots of good people here, a number of whom I've had the pleasure of meeting in person at various tracks. Lots of good help in Tech too, once you sort through the noise.

Nice to see you stopping in, Curtis. Still love the game itself, as much as I don't like the owners vs players crying poor. Cool to see David Ortiz make the Hall Of Fame. Last night on PBS, nice American Experience episode on Roberto Clemente. There is a museum here for him that is awesome. He was an even finer man than he was a ballplayer. There are at least 4 in this thread who have passed on: Guy Price, Ken Gasbarri/DragnRat, Steve Oldani/Transman, and Bob James Sr/Bob j...
I see Nicole and Michelle on FB and Snap occasionally. Ma Brewer was just in town, nice gathering of racers got together.

Floyd, good call on that block. I buy stock in aluminum foil when he gets to ranting. I miss Guy. Still proud to have my Price Racing Clan hat. I need to get that out and put in the car for this season, so he rides with me. I get not racing the Hay Hauler, if you don't feel like you can be what you need to be. Have you thought of racing something slower, even something you can drive to and from the track?

Malicious, nice to see you stopping in too. That's awesome you finished the S10. What do you expect it to run? Guessing high 9s or so, if it's on the stop for 10.90?

He!! Chuck I raced with Guy Price in Arizona about 50 or so years ago. I am a lot better but not 100% yet but mending well. I am pretty lucky to have nothing more than I have to worry about. Got health, food, roof over my head, a few friends and a few $$ in my pocket.

Fern,
I figured you probably knw Guy. I met him and his daughter in Vegas at a Summit series finals in Vegas maybe 25-30 years ago. We got together at Firebird, Vegas and Bakersfield over the years. We use to go to Phoenix a lot to visit our kids so Guy and I would try to get together somewhere when I was in town. If I remember right he would have been 81 in March, I think he like you is 1 year ahead of me.

Chuck,
I forgot about some of the others but I didn't know them as personally as Guy. He and I used to go round and round telling stories on this thread. We had had a lot of fun.

Yes sir! Supposed to get more snow tomorrow night.

Floyd in the 60s I lived in Mesa and raced at Beeline raceway. Lived in Tucson in the 50s where my first racing experience was at Davis-Monthan AFB. Might be getting old pretty soon

Fern, I feel the same way, way lucky to be where I am in life. Every night, I think how blessed I am to be in a warm bed with my own roof over my head, that I get around on my own 2 feet.

Floyd, Bob James is the only one I got to meet in person. He qualified for bracket finals for Dragway 42, and came to KRP. Transman, I bought a helmet from, great to deal with.

Nick, sounds like a good way to stay busy in February, better than how I'll be spending it here on the frozen tundra.

Footloose, as long as the longjohns are like an airplane coming in for a landing... flaps up! Big Grin

You all have a great weekend.

Have not seen Jami or the car in several years at Wild Horse Pass, but I have not raced there since last March.

Had 35 mph wind gusts all day and till tomorrow afternoon , but that is not bad compared to what Chuck and Fern are dealing with.

Fern, are you back to 100%?

Floyd, I won't mind if you ship some of that warmth east. We're up and down here, but are supposed to be in shorts weather tomorrow: mid 40s. I'm rooting for my numbers in the Super Bowl, and a good spread and cold beer at my buddy's. Tyler Boyd and Aaron Donald both grew up here and played at Pitt, so it will be cool that one of them will hoist the Lombardi.

Nick, did you race this weekend?

Just trying to get through the winter still here. How is it February is the shortest month, but feels like the longest?

Fern is doing good. It might even be warm tomorrow. Chuck me and the NFL parted company when they condoned taking a knee. Done with that and anything that has anything to do with it. Hadn't drove the Mercedes for a couple of weeks and got in and every light in the dash lit up---To much junk in these things but it turns out all of it runs through the brake light switch which is on back order. Easy to replace. Race car is keeping warm and things will be picking up soon. Guess I have been laying low--to much covid etc going around and out here in the country I can stay away from it all. Gets kind of boring---cold, wet, no sun shine. Enough already. Everyone stay safe and keep this thread going. Its all I got
