A sad morning and a short story:
Seventeen years ago when I was a Paramedic for DCFD, I saved from a cardiac arrest, the life of a good man from Shelbyville , KY. His name was Laurel True. Each year in December on the date of the save, (a date that I had forgotten) he would call and thank me for giving him one more year to see his children, new grandchildren and to enjoy life.

I began to look forward to those calls each year. He would tell me about his sons & daughters, his work and his health. He would thank me again for his “extra time”. He even came to visit me once when I was drag racing in Clay City, KY.

His wife called today to tell me he passed away last night and to thank me for the years I gave him and their family. I should be thanking them. He will be missed. Goodbye Old Friend

Good Morning All;

John; You should be very proud that what you do has such a positive impact on so many lives. Not many of us can say that.

Mike; wish I could say I empathize with you, but we could certainly use some serious rain here. I would even give up a race day for some rain.

Speaking of race day, we did make it to the track yesterday. Temp was only about 98 when the gates opened. Doesn't seem like much, but it was a lot better than the normal 105.

We went 3 rounds, going out on a .005 red.

I am very happy with the results. We had a number of issues last night, but we managed to overcome them and keep the car on the track long enough to lose ligitamately. I was certainly tired after last night, but it was what one would expect after a long day. I wasn't totally exhausted and ready to quit, so feeling good about that.

So, I continue to look forward to race day.

I need to get back to the car and do some serious thrashing, but that is for another day.

Ken Gasbarri

Mornin' all! Rainy start to today, but I'm not arguing, after the beautiful weather we had for most of the last week.

John, that is a great story, thanks for posting it.

Yesterday was also the 4th ANGELverisary of when Karen and Bob lost Nikki. Karen was doing ok Saturday at the track, but yesterday was tough, obviously. To add to that, Ashley is running a fever. Hoping and praying it breaks today.

Floyd, we were talking good about you on FB. Christine's son Joey, or daughter in law Sonya, was noodling around, and found a pic of your truck with the Nikki sticker, amazed that it was out in Cali. I said, that's our friend Floyd from DRR.

Ken, nice, I'm thinking I'd rather be .005 red than the zzzzzzzz I was 2nd round. I hope the heat eases up on you and makes raceday less taxing.

Mike, maybe if you and Manny blew hard enough, you could push those clouds out to Ken? Big Grin

You all have a great day!

Good Morning All;

Seems everyone is well and enjoying life. That is good.

Went to the track Saturday and managed 3 rounds, but had some issues.

Went back out yesterday to work on some of those issues, and had a very good day.

Saturday, the generator in the motorhome was running fine when the 12VDC died. All the 110VAC were running fine until the gen. quit for lack of 12 VDC. Coach batteries would not crank generator, but it would crank and start using "aux start" switch. Yesterday, when we got there, the coach batteries were fully charged, cranked and started the generator, and ran for about 4 hours while we ran a/c units and chargers and working on car. Got no idea what happened.

Anyway, we got a lot of little things done with the car. Still don't know why the 12VDC problem happened, or why the car got sideways last pass, but we have elimanated a lot of causes.

Thinking of going out next Wednesday and making my "go fast" license passes. Maybe something will show itself then.

Later

Ken Gasbarri

Mornin' all! Over center day! Warming up for today, but looks like some rain tomorrow is going to knock it back down, and give us a good weekend of racing. Fingers crossed that I'll get the Cutlass done and be in it finally.

Mike, I did get the text. I have to catch up and get those pics on here. That is a good size bass Manny caught! Prayers for mom, hope she feels better.

Ken, what part of the track did the car go sideways? Just curious, friend of mine here was fighting it off the line, pulling right, kept getting worse, then found it this past weekend, crack in the mount for the 4 link. Glad you had a good day, nice when they happen.

You all have a great day!

Mornin' all! My Friday too, woo hoo! My buddy Bill's dog, a Sheltie named Austin, bolted from the track Saturday. Lots of people have been looking for him all week, and last night about 1am, he was found, safe and sound. I'm so glad they're back together. He's got him at the vet's now to get checked over.

Lots of work to do tonight and tomorrow on the Cutlass, keep your fingers crossed for me. I need to be back in my own car.

WAO.... uuummm.... something to share??? Big Grin

Good Morning All;

Mike; You know, back when I was living outside Denver, CO, I would get to thinking my life was in the pits. After thinking that way for awhile, and for reasons I don't understand, I would somehow need to travel downtown Denver. I usually took the bus.....the 15 bus along Colfax Ave. I got to witness the real dredges of life. Now I ain't passing judgement, but compared to those people, I had life right by the short hairs. I would leave home feeling sorry for myself, and by the time I got back home, I was in a grand mood, positive and ready to take what ever the world had to offer.

Now, every so often, I have to remind myself just how good I have it. I have some health issues, but hey, I am 68 year old. I've got my nickel's worth. Other than that, life is good. A bad day is when I break my over priced toy, or the stupid Green Bay Packers lose a game.

I think most of us have a lot to be thankful for. Sometimes, it is just difficult to tell how good it is. Remember, if there were no "Bad", there would be no "good"

Good morning folks,beautiful morning here no rain,no racing and lots of mowing............ Banging Head......................................

Ken, sorry did'nt mean to sound pittiful or feeling sorry for myself,but after reading that again this morning I can see how it sounded that way.
Have you ever just woke up and thought whats next well yesterday morning was one of those days,so much to do and most of it for others but I'm good with that,had to be at Manny's dr.app.at 11:30am and several other things promised,then get a call from Mom that she had ran her car off the driveway and into one of her flowerbeds,so hurry home to find her car battery dead and sitting in the middle of her flowerbed,and when I went in the house to check on her I found her very ill,her oxy.level was dangerously low and her breathing real bad,so convinced her to come and go to ER,after getting her PT cruiser out of the flowerbed and charged up she finally agreed to go to ER at our local hospital.

After about 6hrs. of checking her over they decided she needs to be transported to Baptist Hosp.in Winston-Salem to a heart specialist for a better look see,and she's there now I got in around 3am.so not knowing any of this yesterday when I got up,shorta makes me go Hum........thats where the bottomless pit and sink wHoLe comments come from,I have 4 sisters and one brother and when Mom needs us they all dissappear and do nothing,I love Mom and have no issue with doing what needs to be done to make her life better but a little help now and then is greatly appeicated but none seems to come till they need something,hate saying that about my family but they ain't being to cool right now.

Sorry for the long explaination but I needed to vent and to say I do not have ESP but sometimes it does seem bottomless when these things come true,but you are so right Ken just looking around and seeing folks with tougher situations makes you think, but as I used to tell my Dad your toe ache is your toe ache....................... Thumbs up........................................

You all have a fine day................................. Praying............................................................
