Dear QCMP racers,
As the new owner of Quaker City Motorsports Park, I am challenged to make the track a success. There is an overwhelming amount of work to be done and improvements to the facility alone, on top of putting together a race program. As some may already know, my background comes from Road Racing at Formula Atlantic, with very little drag racing knowledge. So, from the beginning, I pictured where I wanted the future to head for the facility, racers, spectators and local community, with me focusing most of my attention towards the grounds and facility. I was in search of someone who I felt would be qualified to head the race program with knowledge and passion for the sport, and have the same vision for the future of QCMP.
We want the track to be a friendly, family atmosphere for everyone, for the racers, spectators and community to be able to come and have fun spending quality time together. We want a racer friendly schedule, from race days to entry’s, payout, end of the year prizes and more. We want a nice clean facility, with nice up to date restrooms, concession stand, souvenir stand, and to have the tower finished on the inside with an office, payout window, along with suites for our sponsors and media. So, after a few months of talking and meeting and getting to know the future Manager of QCMP, I would like to announce that the negotiating is finished and we have come to a deal, I have acquired the services of Greg Miller as QCMP’s new Track Manager.
Greg Miller will be heading all race operations from schedule, sponsors, putting the programs together and running the events. Along with Greg, my two son’s Duke and AJ will be assisting and learning track operations. I am very excited to have Greg on board and I think he brings a lot to the table. Greg has many years in the racing industry starting at the young age of 14. He was the computer operator at that time for Keystone Raceway now known as Pittsburgh Raceway Park where he finished up 2010 as the Track Manager.
Greg knows how to run a racetrack and that its core values are built on being a family friendly environment. Greg will start in February with the daily operations.
From Greg Miller:
I would like to say Thank you to the Fox Family on a number of counts. First is for the purchase of QCMP and taking the pride in giving all of us something to look forward to. Second would be having the confidence in me to oversee the facility. When Norm purchased the property at the sale, I never would have expected a phone call in setting up a meeting to possibly run the track. I am honored to have the opportunity to grow the track bigger and better than it’s ever been. When the Mossey’s owned it, it was a nice facility, Dan Swindell put years in trying to keep it up, but just got to be overwhelming, Now I honestly feel, with the Fox’s vision and putting out a lot for updates and equipment, with the Sponsors and Race program, QCMP is going to be a top notch facility.
For a brief introduction, most of you already know me or of me, but for the ones who don’t: As Norm mentioned, I started out at the former Keystone Raceway, now known as Pittsburgh Raceway Park, as a computer operator. After working various positions I decided to get in a car and start racing. After racing a number of years and getting my son, Scotty Campbell involved, I turned over the drivers seat for him and I sat out.
While watching and working with him in the beginning of his racing career, I decided to take a position back at Pittsburgh Raceway Park. I was able to help the track and still spend the quality time of doing what Scott and I love to do. At the end of 2010, turning the reins back over to the Tedesco’s, I would like to thank them for the years of service and wish them continued success as I look forward to a new Challenge.
I have been consulting with Norm on many things with QCMP and now finishing the negotiating, I am very excited in the direction it is heading. There has been a tremendous amount of response from everyone and 2011 is looking very good for a new beginning.
