Talked to Mr. Yuk the other day. He has started on another project car and it sounds like he is having fun. I do not want to tell his story for him, but between working and this new project car, he has not had a lot of time to race lately. I went through that when I was building a garage last year and had to spend my weekends working rather than racing.

Those were the days when it was fun,it's not the same, racing is over by 6:00. $40.00 to race $20.00 for gas $20.00 for the jr $10.00 for a spectator. another $20.00 for fuel to tow out. $110.00 for 7hrs thats ove $15.00 an hour + food. Cut that in half when we just run the jr. Half of the fun was racing with you and stretch and some of the other guy's that left. Wave

Glen,

It has to be fun. Life is too short to not enjoy it. I have really had a great time this past season so far. Got to meet some people that I never knew and got to know others better. I really look forward to racing on the weekends and seeing everyone. I hate the three hour tow home at night, but its worth the fun that I have every weekend.

Think trails is just 1 day this weekend and then 2 days next weekend or the week after that. I think qcr friday and then trails on Saturday. If weather is nice, maybe hit mags on the way home. Hard to say.

would be nice to see a good turnout. I wish the entry fee was not so high, and I would not want to pay this fee every week, but once I guess is not bad.

Hopefully the track will be good, the lanes equal and a well run program.

I hope we do not rush the program this weekend by running round robin after the first round. That is really hard on parts. But driving a Chevy, I should be OK. Just really worried about my Mopar and Ford counterparts. Their cars don't stay together during regular racing let alone if you force them into round robin. Rolling Laughing Rolling

Jim

I guess that wasn't the brakes squeeking on the race car when you went past!!! LOL

Seriously, on Friday you pay $25 for $400. So you are paying double that on a single day for more than double payout. Saturday is $40 for $600-$700 so for $10 more on a single day you get $1000? Not really a bad entry, especially a 2 day that is $45 a day.

Yep Shawn, Sometimes I squeek when it comes to cost of racing, and sometimes I don't. Depends on the time of year, when college tuition is due, and what else is going on outside of racing. My kids costs come first and sometimes when things get tight, I don't even race.

I just continue to see the rising cost of the sport and everytime it increases, I realize that more and more people will not afford to continue racing and eventually tracks will close. $50 to race on Saturday will not attract someone who does not win often, or go many rounds on a normal raceday. They will race somewhere else that has a lower cost to enter the gate.

For instance, Steel Valley Raceway has a $10 entry this weekend for cars that travel the 1/8 mile at times greater than 7.49 seconds, and they are racing for $400.

I am not arguing the math or the cost versus payout scale. Within the confines of QCR's entry fees, you are correct that it is a pretty good deal. However, if I was a sportsman racer whose car qualifies for the race at Steel Valley, then I would say, why spend 5 times the entry fee for 2.5 times the payout?

I really hope to see a lot of cars at the track this weekend.

$35 for $650 at Mag. Saturday daylight race. $50 for $1000 at Quaker daylight race might be the ticket for me. Friday night races that begin at 8pm are past my bedtime. Sleep
