I think it's so cool the PRP is the 4th black n gold team in the city, though I wish we had the PRP forum. I really think we're missing an opportunity to create some buzz for both fans and racers on all these great announcements.
It is neat to race in front of a crowd, like on NoF. Duuuuuuuuuude! AAAAAA-OOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

IHRA's or PRP's computer system?
I KNOW the PRP new race computer will hold 6 characters as it was run that way for the bracket finals...2 letter track code plus 4 digit SSS competition number.

I also have a call into Sherri to see if you can enter both box and no box with an X number.
You can pay to get competition numbers for as many different classes as you like with IHRA but you have to declare a home track and either box or no box with IHRA for the Summit Super Series.
For example, both my son and I pay for both the box and no box versions of our competition numbers in case we decide to change classes from one season to another.

555 - I don't know how you got to use six nunbers. Did your time slip actually have six or did they drop one on their own. I know the PRP racers only ran 5 numbers because I was in charge of changing the numbers of the racers on our team. Mine didn't have to change because it already starts with a "P" PX98. The racers that didn't start with a "P" had their last number dropped and a "PR" was added to the begining. Maybe they can hold six numbers but they don't want to because of error. I don't know but I bet they won't let you run six.

I announced at the Bracket Finals and all 6 characters were showing up on the announcer screen so that had to be what the clock operator was inputting.
Six characters does add a 50% chance of errors compared to four characters in the competition numbers.

I don't post on here much but wanted to clear this up, your first reply was right. The new system can only hold a total of 5 in any combination. Triple nickle II i am not sure what you were seeing on the announcer screen but trust me 5 is the total that can be entered. That is a limit of the new system, kind of strange but in the rule book for ihra somewhere it says a max of 5 number and that is how the system was built. The problem was most tracks on the east coast didn't follow that rule.
At the bracket finals there were about 50 racers we had to inform them to drop the last number as they were using 6. For example PR1927 went into the system as pr192. Yes it is a small change for the racer but helps in the overall less errors and battery life and fingers being tired on the keyboard all day ect.
SO if you sign up for the PRP points this year you are limited to a total of 5. If you don't run points and have a car number you keep and it is 6 numbers, the last will be cut off and you will be asked to cover it up for the day. It should not be a big issue.
Don't forget now that the reaction time goes out to 4 number displayed. So getting a perfect light is almost impossible. Or at least the last 4yrs no one running this system has done it. A few came close at the bracket finals with a .0003.
This should be a great season, looking forward to seeing everyone there. And thanks to the constant pounding of Greg Miller i should have old blue out of retirement for some fun again this season. I wonder if my 6yr old belts will pass tech?
bill, we know all too well about the 4th digit, 2nd round at the brackets on sundays gamblers race, ryan had a .0003 red. the look on his face was priceless, like someone just pee d in his cherrios
our number is 0402. so im taking it when we renew our number, it would be better just to drop the first 0?
I remember a thread on the old PRP forum about numbers. Do we now need a PR before our number (max 5 characters) or is that for the Bracket Finals only? Can we use our numbers from last year and how is running the SSS effected (needeing an X as the second character)?

If you are running an x number your good to go.That's 4 digits and the x let's us know your in the points. You have to be in prp points to run the x number. If your not running the x and just points, you will be pr and 3 digits.
I hope that clarifies it a little. That will be for the point season and at the bracket finals you can only have 5 max.
At the brackets I would like to use the track code(2 letters)and 3 digits and then the system will keep track of the points and they wouldn't have to do them by hand.

Hey Dave, welcome to the DRR forum. We don't have the # of PRP folks here that we did on our own forum (still have hope that it will come back someday), but still a good place to communicate.
