I don't think it was a gasket issue Mikey. Were all the head bolts tight when you took it apart? I don't mean did you not tighten them, I mean could the bolts have stretched a little and lost some clamping force?

They seemed to be tight. They were new arp head bolts though. I dont retorque head bolts either. I dont know if you guys do that or not. I have ran that gasket before with know problem. 89 Mustang GT - PX98 Rodeheavers Hotrod Shop

No retorque for me either. I just set the impact gun on high and turn the air pressure up the whole way. Braaaaaapapapapapapa. It's all good.

Just my $ .02 were the intake or exhaust valve pokets laid back any on the last head rebuild? Looks like the gasket may have been in the cylinder area around the intake or exhaust valve pocket wall on those two cylinders. And Tony this would be normal for you now that you are on the bottle.

I know those were "fail pros", but call cometic and I don't think you need a certain finish. Either that just buy a bigger impact gun. Torque is where's it's at!! lol Forever "53' Always and forever "Thinking of Nikki"... Our "Guy"

Cometics all the way Mikey. I have 5 plus seasons on my engine and I've never had an issue. Spelic was having some head gasket issues until he switched to Cometics, too. I too never retorque the heads and I'm using factory head bolts. JM2C.

If you don't have access to a really good head / block surfacer, you can surface them with a less than great finish and then hand finish to get a lower Ra for the cometics. I have used silicon carbide wet sandpaper wrapped around a ground block in the past. Seals up to 30+ psi boost with intake temperatures over 300° on my bike. ( The bike is aluminum / aluminum, but shouldn't make much difference on being able to get the finish). John

If he can get it to GMS, Gregg will get it as smooth as he wants, no question about it! I will be doing a spare head and block at GMS, in case I have issues over the winter on Gregg's dyno at 35 psi....

why don't we start a list on here of improvements at PRP for next year? I'll start it off. Get rid of the steel guide rails and grass between them and the strip. NEXT ------>?
|

That would be a very good improvement. Major safety improvment at that. ____________________ 1984 Mustang GT350 Convertible 2004 Mustang GT 2004 Dodge Ram 4x4
