FYI--Karen just updated Nikki's care pages. They are removing the computer today due to the big move to the new Children's Hospital this weekend. So, she will try somehow to keep us updated till they are in the new hospital. I will pass any news that I get.
Nikki will have surgey tomorrow morning @ 7:30am for spinal fluid testing! Please say an extra prayer that the results come with really, really great news!!

Attention to all Top & Mod Racers:
Due to lack of sponsorship, regrettably, the weekly regular race day payout will again be $800 to the winner in Top and in Mod class. This is what we have been paying out to racers even before thebonus money from the sponsor. We are hopeful that the economy and sponsorship pick up for next season.

Happy Birthday Big Mark...

Nick thanks for the update. This shouldnt be too bad. We still have the year end prizes and the 5K to win points series.

Have you decided on the year end run-off prizes?

I tried to find the point program details on the PDP website, but couldn't locate it.

Can someone post a link?

Mark,

I didn't see your previous question. By my count, the answer is 24 different dates where $1,000 or more was paid to the race winner.

Those numbers come from scrolling backwards through last year's news pages on Dragway 42's website.

The count includes EVERY one of the 9 Summit SuperSeries point events last year. There were originally 12 point races on the 2008 schedule, but 3 were rained out.

Dragway 42 GUARANTEED $1,000 to win in "Top" last season AND doubled the purse to $2,000 to win with 64 or more entries.

In addition to all of the 2008 Dragway 42 point race dates, the events held on the following 15 non-point race dates also paid $1,000 or more to win (including some with multiple big $$$ classes at the same event).

May 10, 25, and 26
June 13, 14, and 15
July 4 and 5
August 30 and 31
September 20 and 21
October 12, 13, and 14

So I assume D42's purse has been "rolled back" for 2009 also according to the website?

I don't know about "rolled back", since the track kept everything in the exact same ratio as it was in 2008.

As was announced at the banquet in January, Dragway 42 dropped the total race entry fee for its "TOP" class to just $25.

"Top" pays $1,000 to win with 64+ cars and the track guarantees a minimum "win" purse of $500 for anything below that car count.

Round money is $10 per round beginning with your 2nd round win. Runner-up money is $300 for 64+ cars and $200 for under that amount.

Point racers in Top, Mod, and Street are also eligible for the SSS contingency payouts (same as everywhere) plus up to $150 in cash track contingency awards and Summit gift cards for the class win.

The track is also offering the same $25 entry fee, $1,000 to win with 64+ cars, etc. structure in the "Mod" class this year. It only missed that "bonus" level car count by 1/2 dozen at the point opener last Sunday.

The racers seem to enjoy the $25 entry fees in both Top and Mod as several "No Box" cars entered their machines into both the Top and Mod eliminators last Sunday.

There was also a handful of others who entered in both the $25 Mod and $20 Street classes.

Dragway 42 also reduced the entry fee for its 4 special event / holiday "Cheap Race Weekends" for 2009.

This year a single, $50 total, weekend entry fee gets you into a Friday Test & Tune plus optional 100% payback gambler race; Saturday $1,000 minimum to win class; and Sunday $1,000 minimum to win class.

I think Dragway 42's theme for 2009 says it all...

AFFORDABLE, Fun Drag Racing Action!

I'm in with you Tony!! Even though they never had 64 top cars... this year will be different I'm thinking 135-145 per week. Keep tabs each week for us nickle. Quaker paid 600.00 last Saturday. PRP PAID 800 at the gamblers race on Sunday. What was 42? Oh yea and Tony if there are 60 cars PRP only pays 800, and Quaker only pays 800 But 42 GUARANTEES 500 Sweet

Nick your family still gives everyone a place to race at. That's the main thing. 800.00 is still a lot of money!! Track was sweet last Sunday. Nick your dad tried to drive the dragster. Should I have been scared?

Exactly Ray! A $800 purse is still awesome but more important I'm glad we have a great place to race. Times are tough for everyone and we just have to get through it. Plus what what about the end of year points winnings and the runoffs.
