Straight winds will definitely do some damage at those speeds.

I hope everyone is having a good new year so far. ChuckT do you think either one of us is going to have a good baseball year?

Howdy all. Man, it's weird to read that you guys out west/southwest are colder than I am in Pittsburgh. Sure has been a mixed bag in the last week, a few inches of snow Saturday, that was mostly gone Sunday, windy as all get out the last 2 days, a lot of rain but no tornadoes, and next week will be single digits.

Fern, hope you got the garage cleaned up. If you did, are you for hire??? Big Grin I need to straighten up my mess. Actually, I need to sell the crap and dump the scrap, and put my tools back in the box.

Bob, sorry to hear about the loss of your friends.

M120, that sounds like it was a fun job, twice. I hear you on the trees. I have one on the side of the house, that is nice and healthy, but a bad wind or tornado could push it or parts of it onto the kitchen at least.

Curtis, I don't think the weather is drunk, it's that Mother Nature is schitzo and off of her meds. I think the Cards will have a much better year than the Pirates. Starting pitching has way too many question marks, at least, if not outright holes. I was actually hoping they would let Triolo play first, really good glove, and a good hitter, even if he's not a power hitter. If Tellez has the pop he did in 2022, this team needs it. If he has a season like 2023, well, this team is full of those kind of stats. Hopefully O'Neill Cruz is healthy and can be consistent. I'm glad Cutch is back. But the offseason pick ups don't do much to inspire any kind of fear in opponents.

Stay safe, warm, and dry out there.

Good evening everyone. Hope y’all who had the bad storms roll through recently got through it ok. Got pretty nasty for us. A local weather tracker/chaser/reporter in my neighborhood said he recorded gusts up to 80mph. Had a tornado reported about 20 miles north of us. No problems at my house, but lost the top 50’ish feet out of a pine tree at moms house. Got it cut up and moved out yesterday. Counted the growth rings and I think it was roughly 60 years old.

I’ve been doing more house cleaning on the 68 Camaro as time allows. As much as I tried to keep moisture under control inside the trailer over the past 8 years, there’s evidence those efforts weren’t 100% effective. Ran a dehumidifier inside for a while and after it died, relied on damp rid tubs and bags. The wheels had a lot of water spotting and a few other aluminum pieces have the haze from moisture sitting on them. Paint is semi shiny and fuel system is flushed now. I pulled all spark plugs and sprayed we-40 in the cylinders. I figure I’ll wait til I’m ready to spin the engine over before priming the oil. Need to work on the brakes next. I scrubbed the rotors down with steel wool to knock off the surface rust that accumulated. I guess I’m not getting off as easy like I hoped. Right front brake is dragging. May have time tomorrow to address that. With this being my slow season for work, I’m pretty surprised at how little time I’ve been able to spend on the car. Still looking good for having it running and driving soon though.

I guess that’s enough yapping for me for now. Y’all stay safe, warm and have a great weekend..

Good evening y'all. Hope your Monday has been good to ya. Been a good one for me it appears. Haven't addressed the dragging brake yet, but did prime the engine and spin it over by hand today. Pretty optimistic about firing it up this week. Even got the wife outside to watch the oil pressure while I primed it Smile Racing season is right around the corner and things are looking up around here.

Aside from work, Not much else going on around here. Watched some of the televised, far out of my pay grade, car auction Saturday evening. Good grief,,, folks seem to be doing pretty well to afford some of those prices I saw them going for. No way I'd be able to enjoy one of those high dollar rides. 1st rock chip or unexplained ding and I'd be sick.... Think I'll stick with my scratch-n-dent drivers...

Y'all have a great week and stay warm n dry..

All I have to do is change the oil in the race car. But I have this other project. I have a 1994 BIG Blazer powered by a 6.5 Turbo diesel that I have owned since new and have been getting it going since sitting in the garage with rusted out fuel lines for about 5 years. I have never seen another with a 6.5. So I have got it running and driving fine, all fluids changed or checked, good oil pressure, etc---BUT every once in awhile the service engine soon light blinks on momentarily and goes off. Scan tool turns up nothing. Any ideas? Otherwise its trying to get cold here. Hope everyone is doing fine and safe.

BTR, thanks for keeping us updated!

I've been working diligently to get my winter maintenance done on the race car. I don't have much of a winter off time to do this & I threw a wrench in by attending the Hangover Nationals in Tuscon. Anyway, I'm about done with everything & the start of our season is the end of Jan.

I've been wanting/planning to get the car painted but it seems like racing is taking the priority. I had a place locally that I wanted to do the bodywork & paint. They only do paint now & they give recommendations to whom to take it to for bodywork. The body work guy hasn't seemed to work out to well so far. If something doesn't happen soon, I need to find a one stop shop to do it all like I wanted in the 1st place.

I wanted to have the car painted for the Spring Fling Million in Apr. I missed the race last year because of my dad's health & passing in May last year. Anyway, the penciled in plan is to at least run the (3) 30Ks. As for the Million, the car is not ready yet with the new set-up. As for the driver, I'm better than the car right now but not at the level I need to be for the race. We'll see how this all plays out in the next few months. Wink

Hope all well with everyone!

Good evening. It's been a productive week over here. Finished up most of the checkup stuff and dropped $300+ on a new battery. Fired up the hotrod, (1st startup since late 2014), and made a short trip up and down my street. Sounds great, drove great and once I finish cleaning off my greasy paw prints from hood fenders and doors, it should be looking great. It's a good feeling to hear it run after so long. Now it's on to hitting a few test n tune days to learn to race again.

Fern, those old Blazers are pretty darn sweet. Hope you get that light figured out. Food for thought, possibly something in the fuse box or a relay somewhere? I have a 2005 Ram 1500 that I have intermittent light issues with. I have it narrowed down to the fuse box, also referred to as TIPM, under the hood. Seems they are prone to moisture issues and solder cracks in the circuitry that the relays run through, according to my google searching. There is a workaround for mine, which works for a few days before failing again. Not a daily driver, so I just keep temp fixing it. Costs $500'ish for the permanent fix, or else I take it apart and try the permanent fix myself. Good luck.

B King, I hope the paint/body stuff gets worked out for ya. Several years ago I had one stuck in paint shop purgatory for several months past it's estimated finish date, before the guy even started on it.

Y'all stay warm out there. SE NC is gonna dip into the 20's Saturday and Sunday nights. I feel like a sissy complaining about that, when some of y'all would consider that a heat wave lately... Have a great weekend.

BTR its old and is a Diesel that sat in the garage for around 5 years probably has a lot to do with the blinking light. I didn't even have it plugged up and it has started every day since I got it running even one morning when it was 16 degrees. Anyway, I drained the oil out of the race car today so thats a start and I'll drag myself to town tomorrow for a filter and oil and that will be done. Mama wants to go to the beach sometime in March so have to fit that in. I think Rockingham may have something in March. Only thing I have for sure is Bristol in July. Everyone try to stay warm and safe.

Since daughter was on the pregame BS for the Ravens/Chiefs game I watched that one but the Ravens were the better team that went to sleep at the wheel. Car is ready. Weather today is good, was 80 a few days ago and 16 a few before that. Everyone stay safe.

Good evening y'all. I've been awake, but not making much of my days recently. Had a few days of feeling a little run down, so I did very little, aside from some small work needs for customers. I did take the Superstocker around the block last Tuesday, just to knock the dust off the clutch and see how things felt. Silly/stupid me, I checked everything except the fuel cell before the trip and ran out of gas on the backstretch, about 1/4 mile from home. I have great neighbors though. One kept me company on the side of the road while another brought me a couple gallons from his house. I have an appointment Wednesday to have the chassis inspected. Last inspection was 2010. My brother had some updates done in 2013, but never had it certified. I'm confident we're ok though.

Floyd, I somehow forgot there were games on. Drove to moms empty house instead and began the process of evicting some squirrels that found their way into her attic. Kind of bummed for Detroit. Being perennial losers, having a 3 win season in 2021 with the "experts" calling the coach a bum, to making it to the NFC championship this season is impressive.

Hey Fern, how's it going on the old Blazer? As a young knucklehead, I had a 76 Blazer with removable half top and wish I never sold it. Had a blast with it.

B King, I saw your thread on last weekends racing. Congrats on your win. Sucks for a breakdown on the ride home, but glad you made it home safe.

Hope everyone is having a great start to their week.

Well BTR Floyd and I come around pretty often as do some others. I was out of here for a few days and when I was I was busy here. I finally broke down and got a new fender for my Featherlite open trailer. $800+!!!!--now to get the latches on it and put on the trailer. Daughter coming from Baltimore Wend as I have 4 Dr appointments from Wend till Friday. Old people stuff. The Blazer---Runs and drives ok except for that light in the dash blinking once in awhile. Last of the diesels, a 1994 6.5 turbo diesel. Haven't had time to fool with it. To many vehicles around here, looks like a car lot. Need to sell a couple. Twice on here today!!!!! You are close by so maybe I'll see you this summer.

Ahh,, almost forgot to mention spending a couple paychecks today at the Ram dealer today. Until it's out of warranty, That's where it goes for all servicing. Oil change, fuel filters, crankcase filter and coolant/heater core flush = $1500. Heat has only been lukewarm this winter. Service writer has me set up for a new heater core on a warranty claim. Says it will cost me $50 for an all day job. Thank God for buying into the extended warranty.

Fern, I understand the car lot feeling. A friend of mine calls my place Sanford and Son. I don't think it's quite as messy as their place myself. I'm currently sitting on 8 cars/trucks, (1 is the wifes), 2 enclosed trailers, 1 open car trailer, 3 landscape trailers and at least a dozen John Deere mowers. And nothings for sale... LOL Probably selling a few mowers soon, but may add one or two more again after that.

Good evening folks. Seems everything I have is on the docket for repairs of some sort all the sudden. The race car chassis cert is done and we're good to go there. New harness/belts are on the way as well. Took the tranny out today so I can get the bellhousing out for recert, and found the input shaft is cracked. Kind of hurts my feelings, but frankly, this is the first actual setback since I started the process of waking the car up, so I'm not gonna cry yet. It's an older Jerico DR 4 and I've been led to believe Jerico doesn't service them anymore. Apparently they're obsolete. I'll call them tomorrow anyway. Maybe they have a part or two for it. Probably going to take it apart this week to see if there's anything else that needs attention. I already had plans to switch to a Liberty Gears unit, just not so soon, since money is a little tight until my work season picks back up in the springtime. A friend thinks he knows of a good used Liberty I may be able to get. If that works out, I suppose I may have a broken tranny for sale. It looks like I may have options, but still gonna cost a bit. Got some optimistic news about my dually Friday, that the transmission I had been previously told needed a rebuild, at nearly $3000, may be a much easier/cheaper fix. If so, the $$$ I have set aside for it will go towards the race car tranny. My 18 Ram goes in for surgery tomorrow to replace the heater core. It's been a cold winter inside that thing. No heat all season. Dealer has it covered under warranty though. Looking forward to keeping warm over the remaining winter.

Enough of my yammering... Time for dinner and a nap. Hope everyone's doing well out there. Stay warm y'all...
