Just for the record, I think each individual person should be able to choose whether to get the vaccine or not. I'm against any government or employer mandates. It amazes me how many intelligent people have became so fact resistant regarding the Covid shot. In my county 40% are fully vaccinated. That number is slightly higher State wide. Wednesday our local hospital chain (Atrium healthcare) release numbers involving Covid patients who are in their ICU's. There were 153 patient in Atrium healthcare ICU's with Covid. 144 of them were NOT vaccinated. I have a very vocal anti vax friend who's currently hospitalized with Covid. Thankfully she's not in the ICU. She says she got covid because people like me won't wear a mask. I won't be wearing a mask just just because someone refuses the vaccine. (FWIW my Dr says masks are worthless for preventing the spread of Covid) I used to be a people person, but people ruined that. | |||

The shot doesn’t really keep you from getting or spreading it. May bring down viral load, so it may help just like natural immunity does. Going out to me after substantial exposure to me is kind of reckless. However I can spend a race day outdoors and distant from all except the person taking my money. We have not seen racing events be spreaders. Wear a mask when you pay and stay away from people and getting or giving Covid seems unlikely. I’m pragmatic to a fault though. Now actively coughing after exposure and fever, well that’s a pretty good sign you are contagious. Foxtrot Juliet Bravo | |||

I don't know all what Mike is saying. But as far as Florida, there are a lot of different factors contributing to their positivity rate. But even if there was a direct correlation between freedoms and cases, I gotta say I'd lean toward letting people make their own choices and take their own chances. And suffer their own consequences as well. The population figures out their best choices eventually when the government doesn't coddle them. I haven't seen all the data regarding Florida yet. Actually,I think the masks are not worthless for the spread of Covid. Here is why: We now have a face mask MANDATE in Illinois in all indoor areas.(Vaccinated AND unvaccinated)Normally,people would go into stores,restaurants,movies,etc without a face mask. But since it is now required,I am avoiding all of these places as much as possible.I am not walking into these places with a face mask unless it is an absolute emergency that I need something.This cripples the economy,and reduces the spread of Covid if more people think the way I do. | |||

I have no problem with personal freedoms and I get the illegals but was not my point. Just showing It can happen anywhere masks or no masks. It’s not fake news pal it’s reality. So he said he was forced to issue the face mask mandate.This includes vaccinated and unvaccinated people,because a vaccinated person can still spread the virus to another vaccinated person or an unvaccinated person.So please get vaccinated if you haven't already,because that will solve everything!  | |||

Actually if you think about it, people like you do. I really don't mean that as an insult, just making a point to what you posted. You are correct saying, "and reduces the spread of Covid if more people think the way I do" in that less people are out. I will say, I hate wearing a mask and have to fight myself to keep from resisting them. Who doesn't? I also believe that they do help but not in that sarcastic way. I've heard every argument just like everyone else has about them. Virus size, openings in material, yada, yada. They do still knock down water droplets somewhat so yes they do something, just not a 100% stoppage which is usually something else I hear as a reason to not wear one. Now that we can get N95 masks again they would be better. We can all argue for another 1000 pages but I will probably still believe the way I do until our ICUs aren't full with Covid patients begging my wife for life like the 2 women who delivered babies just before entering. Neither made it out. Some good news though, they did send 2 people home in the last 2 weeks. I really do hope that things get to a point with this stupid virus that anything any of us have to say is moot. Until it effects people personally it isn't really something very many will change their mind about though. Some like the Florida Man may never. On another note, every time I see a headline start A Florida Man I expect to see his picture.
