Slot Car Bracket Racing has been a big sport for more than 20 years!!! This has b For those of us in Pennsylvania its something that never existed.
John Neiman built a track early this year in Blairsville, Pa at his house. We run regular bracket races every sunday usually open bracket and Index races to follow. There are very few active dragstrips in PA and only 2 within the pittsburgh area. Ohio is MASSIVE for slot car bracket racing. TONS AND TONS OF TRACKS located all over ohio that run regular races every weekend, along with BIG $$$ Races through OHIO, MARYLAND, KENTUCKY ETC. We are really aiming to get more people involved in this new winter hobby. Cost is not expensive, racing is typically $3 a car per entry with 5-10 car entry max. (double entering a car is typically aloud)normally in blairsville time trials from 12-3 eliminations start shortly after. For BEGINNERS who want to check this out, There are normally some loaner cars available to use on a race day to try it out.
For those interested in checking out some local slot car racing in blairsville, message me for info. I will attempt to post some pictures up of what cars look like and maybe ill add a YOU TUBE LINK to get an idea what some places look like.
ALSO: This is bracket racing, DIAL IN'S, REACTION TIMES, FULL TIME SLIP FROM 60ft-1/4 miles all the way down the board, (BLAIRSVILLE IS AN 8th MILE 1/24 scale track) which i believe is about 27 feet long, Cars in the 8th can run from 25-50 MPH depending on setup, so it happens pretty quickly but as far as "TOP END GAMES" go its just like real life, if you got the room in that split second, your dropping or "ripping" etc. You stand at the starting line with a controller that is hooked to the track and do the necessary track prep that you do and then we manually stage the car into the beams by hand, then the starter fires the tree when your both ready. It is a very interesting activity and keeps your drag racing senses going.
Please there are very few people in the pittsburgh area involved and the hopes are to bring some more interest into the area.
AS FOR CAR BUILDS and PARTS I currently have someone in ohio who builds my cars which have all turned out GREAT and if interested i can set you up, also i believe john neiman owner of the local track is planning on building cars for those in need. and remember if you have any Plastic Model car kits 1:24 scale you have the first step. it starts with the car body and we turn that into a SLOT DRAG CAR or DRAGSTER!!! Yeah nick, I have about 4 slot cars to build. There is the 68 camaro S/G roadster, 63 chevy II T/S, 66 chevy II super stocker, and a sunbeam tiger S/G roadster. I have been too busy R/C Racing to get anywhere with them.

Chuck: I'm going to build a 1:24 scale replica of the vega so I can at least dream and make car noises...

Sundays aren't very good for me since r/c season started. I've been racing at pt-raceway on sundays and don't get back to blairsville until about 5:00.
I don't have anything to run anyway until I get some chassis kits from john. I'm going to try to get out there saturday or sunday evening to work on the timing system.

Tony, it's easier to list what I didn't break. So far, that list is:
carb
intake
distributor

Hoping the heads are ok. I think they will be.

That's a lot of trouble to go thru just to get an Ultra Bell for your transmission.
