Congrats to Bob Deniker for ttaking all 7 rounds in no box tonight for the win!
not worthy not worthy

Thanks again go out to Mike and his crew at Wholesale Transmission, and Carmen and Ionadi Auto Sales. I got the car back Monday, it wasn't right still, so I took it back Wednesday. Sprag - drum combo is now 100% and working flawless. I went 5 rounds tonight, and the transmission was perfect, with a best ever 1.621 60'.

Notes-This was the first attempt to run an Outlaw Dragster class along with the Pro Mods. The car count was bolstered by three of the track regulars deciding to enter. The Tedesco family was very happy with the show the dragsters put on and have decided to add them to the Pro Mod shows next year.

One of the track regulars who entered the Outlaw Dragster show was Mia Tedesco. Mia has a Top Dragster in addition to the dragster she runs in the weekly bracket races at PRP. I believe this was her first shot at running in a heads-up, pro tree race. She cut some pretty decent lights; .060 in qualifying, .030 and .015 in eliminations. She and crew chief Rich Coury Jr. learned they can win rounds in heads-up racing by getting the car down the track.

One team that knows how to get down the track is Chip Forman and his crew chief Joe Seiner. Chip won for the seventh time in the last two years at PRP. Five runs between 4.1073 and 4.0871 at 176.19 to 176.61.

The flip side to Forman getting down the track every run is Bill Huwe and the Our Gang team. They ran 4.36 and 4.30 in qualifying but didn’t make a single good pass in eliminations and still went to the final round. They shook the tires hard in the first round but won when John Camp broke. They spun the tires on a bye run in the semifinals after Ray Schuler nipped a piston in his first round win.

Andy Jensen sat out eliminations after discovering a crank in a four link bracket after the first qualifier. He pedaled the car big time on that 4.04 pass.

Jensen sitting out eliminations set up a first round matchup of the Fagnilli brothers, Tony and Gino. I didn’t ask ahead of time and when I asked later both of them denied there were any pre-arrangements, but just as I felt might happen the brothers engaged in a staging duel. Both pre-staged quickly but neither wanted to go in first. Starter David Green began to make a move like he would settle it, but when he realized who it was he decided not to get involved in a family feud. Eventually Tony gave in and staged first. Gino went right in after and got about four hundredths on the tree on his way to the round win.

Kevin Bealko and the Black Diamond Motorsports team also sat out eliminations. They followed up there career best performance of 4.115 at the ADRL race at Norwalk with a 4.1377 this weekend. After qualifying the team discovered their new headers were starting to burn a hole in the passenger door.

Dennis Dimitrov did not get a time in the first round of qualifying and had to sit out the second qualifier with a broken retainer. Chris Bozic ran out of air for his shifter before the burnout in first round of eliminations so we pushed him off and quickly allowed Dennis to start his car and slip in as an alternate. Unfortunately Dan Dietrich had already done his burnout and was preparing to stage. Dimitrov did a very short burnout, backed up and staged as quickly as possible but I think we hung Dietrich out a little bit. Dietrich assured me that didn’t hurt him and he did win the round but I decided we won’t go to that extreme to insert an alternate for a broken car.

Paul Molnar and Dave Quesenberry continued their string of impressive performances with their new dragster. This was the fifth race I’ve been to this year where they were competing and they have won all five; four at Thompson and this one at Pittsburgh Raceway Park.

Don Martik was driving Bob George’s blown 65 Dodge in Pro Mod. The car is a former super stock car that Bob’s son Curt was building before his untimely death in a construction accident. The car has a 540 cubic inch Bob George built hemi and a Lencodrive. It weighs 3100 pounds so it is at quite a disadvantage in Pro Mod but it definitely stands out from the rest of the cars in the field. It is also louder than any other car in the field. It is a tribute car in Curt’s memory.

What an awesome weekend of racing! Thank you to the entire PRP crew for their long hours and hard work. 7 round races Friday night in Box and No Box, plus juniors and Pro Mod/Outlaw Dragster hits, and the program ran smooth and almost flawless. Saturday was an absolutely huge car count, I'm guessing at least 300? And the whole PRP staff worked hard til racing finished at 3:30am. I think that was the most kids I've seen come and hang out for trick or treat. I ran out of candy about 7:40, and that was with Barry not there to steal the Reese Cups. Sunday's program moved great, with racing finished around 7pm.

Congrats to RHPIII for knocking it out in the Box class Saturday night! The All About Youth dragster was dead on every pass it seemed. I thought maybe Richie was in for a double up, but a Gremlin got him, literally. Kevin Romeo did an awesome job to drive 2 different cars to the finals, just oh so close to perfect in Box, .001 red, and Dave Dortenzo dropping a .007 package on him in No Box. Bob Deniker, congrats on your own awesome weekend with the double up yesterday in No Box. I believe it was Mark Claypoole in the Neon that won Box over Bud Brank? That Neon was dead on about every pass too.

The track crew and staff did an awesome job to make it a fantastic weekend!! I also appreciate that with all the racers and races and trick or treat Saturday that they started mixing the Jr's in sooner to get them done earlier. We had an absolute blast but had to go home early Sunday and didn't get to race as Andrew had some major back problems. See you all next year.

That's a real nice car count. Track didn't feel that jammed with that many cars which is a good thing.

just wanted to say congrats to all the winners this weekend! it was some good racing for sure. my best bud kevin was killing it all weekend with 2 semi appearances and 2 final appearances.

while we were all racing at prp...dave norris was at englishtown for the shakedown and etown event and lets just say...dave came home with a pretty impressive quarter mile time.

1.01 sixty
4.03 eighth
6.07 @ 223 mph

the car had an electrical gremlin that caused the car to shut off at the 1000ft...if it hadnt shut off it was easily gonna be a 5.90 pass at 240+ mph! unreal!

heres a video of the pass...its not good quality or anything but you get the gist

Nick I was pumped when I got the win light but after I saw the slip I knew something wasnt right. I knew either your car was off or you took too much out too early. I wasnt flat, once I came around you I just started scrubbin. I thought you would drop so I almost gave it back. Thats why it was .001.

When my cars 60ft was all over the place it was the converter. I thought that was a new converter in your car?

Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser

Ronald Thomas, my former father-in-law, raced at Pittsburgh Raceway Park and Quaker City Raceway for many years throughout the 1990’s and early 2000’s. He campaigned a 1971 Dodge Demon. The car is yellow with red and black stripes on the side, and had the name Omron on the side. His brother also ran the Mac tools Robo-Grip dragster. Ron stopped running the car in the early 2000’s due to his first round of illness.

In 2009, Ron lost his job of over 25 years due to “downsizing”. A few months later, he found he had cancer, and has been in the fight of his life ever since. However, this has been without any health insurance.

His daughters have organized an opportunity for Ron’s friends and family to help keep the treatments coming by supporting Ron at a spaghetti dinner fundraiser. As you can imagine, the medical bills and treatment are extensive!

The dinner is this Saturday, October 15, 2011 from 3:00 to 7:00 PM at the Pitcairn/Monroeville Sportsmen’s Club. 505 Mosside Blvd (Rt 48), North Versailles, PA 15137.

Donations of $10/adult and $5/child(10 and under) would be greatly appreciated.

Please RSVP by Friday, October 14 to Desirae (Thomas) Gentile at 412-229-8501 or Ursula (Thomas) Paton at 412-464-4395.

If you are unable to attend the spaghetti dinner, donation may be made to

“Ron’s Road to Recovery Fund”

Thank you for your generosity and may God Bless You!
