Well pulled the pan tonight and it was nice and sparkly. Not sure what the next move. Pulled a rod and a main bearing, rod looked good main had some metal in it. Have to wait until tommaorow to get more of a verdict on the mettal in the mains. Going to order another cam and lifters tommorow. May be out next weekend may not all depends. Got Shells trannsmission fixed and changed in and it still sounds good. So at least we have one car in the hunt. Should have Dads Camaro ready for the track on Saturday as well. All he has to do is put the cowl on the hood and he is read to go. Mark good to hear it was nothing serious with your car. AJ

Yeah now we just have to see what happens at the track on Saturday. Good to hear the rest of your cars are coming together, are you home this week or away?

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you, AJ. Good to hear Shelly's car is good. And I'm really wanting to see your dad run. Mark, also good to hear yours wasn't serious. There was a lot of that going around this weekend, right T? Those Dean's Racing Engines cars are going to be a handful again. And I'm not talking about the Romeo brothers. I'm talking about Mom Romeo smacking the tree and making nice runs, and Joey Pinsky running right on all weekend. Thanks Tony, it was just a loose rocker. Mark, Thank you I will let you know. I ordered the new cam today and will be here wednesday. Couldn't afford overnight from Indiana so second day will be good enough. Good news with the metal in the mains, it didnt get the crank. So we are out of the water there. Still need to clean the mains though cause there was some metal there. If all goes as planned Betsy should fire up on Thursday and be ready for saturday. If we have any more problems it may be HEMI time again. LOL AJ

AJ, I'm glad it wasn't that bad and you will have it back to together soon. Mark it nice to hear it was something simple. I also was slow on Sat. and was all worried about the converter and rearend, but I just didn't have enough timing in it. A few more minor adjustments and it should be right where I want it. 89 Mustang GT - PX98 Rodeheavers Hotrod Shop

With so many folks talking about their small mechanical problems I haven't heard anyone comment about the new track surface. How was it?

Triple, I'd say that being that there aren't any comments about the track surface that its a good thing, lol. I thought it was awesome, I was watching cars all day and I couldn't see any movement like there used to be, its pretty much as smooth as glass. There were 2 door cars that went into the 6's pulling their chutes just after the 1000' mark, last year you would have been able to see them hitting the bumps and moving around, they went straight down through with no problems. There also didn't really seem to be any traction problems that I am aware of. Overall, I think it was a definite success.

From what Rich told me, Trap was really pleased with the track. 6.92 at 198, I would be too. The PRP site's forum is back up, and you'll need to register again. Triple, we had a couple of our local Top Sportsman guys testing the grinding job out, and they both gave a very BIG thumbs up to the track. They both said the traction was already good and realize it will only get better with a lil more rubber and their passes were smooth sailing. They both loved it and everyone commented about the smoothness and great traction. Dave Trapletti ran a 6.92 on one stage and Billy Huwe was on a 6.70 pass but clicked early because he was questioning himself if he pulled the pin on the chute while driving down the Quarter mile.

i cant wait till july to make it there to have ryan make a few passes . AJ, i hear your cam problems. this past weekend, ryan made a total of 9 passes at beaver. 7 sat and 2 sunday. all passes in the left lane was in a .04 sec window as well as all the passes in the right lane. 9.13-9.17 left 9.08-9.12 right lane. then on his 2nd time run sunday, he clocked a 9.13, lifted, coasted then right before the turn off, it died. towed it back and started checking, the cam broke between the lobes. freak'n lunati crap lol thank god it happened while he was idling or the motor would have been junk. only need a cam and lifters and they will be here thursday to get it ready for this weekend. he was so excited the way it was running. clutch hit at 7000, shifted at 8500 then flatlined at 7900 till 630' crossing at just over 70 mph. with the new cam , it should have a little more power. guess we got lucky, ,

I also thought the track surface was awesome! There was tons of traction which everyone was worried about and it also looked very smooth when the 6 sec cars went down. I was in the burnout box when one made a pass and it was straight as an arrow. Thumbs up to PRP! 89 Mustang GT - PX98 Rodeheavers Hotrod Shop

YEA-We can finally come out of PANIC Mode-and get into cruise mode.I think we'll have a dynamite weekend, and everything should go much smoother.I have to get back on dad's motor-short block finished-and have the 355(last years) apart, and I will take the other Darts up to machine shop tomrw.I'll try to squeeze them in with Joe, and just get a freshen up-spring check, seat press, inst ht,and lap the valves in again. They should be fine-only1/2 season on them.I just got Vinny's heads back, and am going to put top end on his.Hopefully Donny's heads will be ready by the last of this week.I'll be pretty caught up by then- and will do a couple back up motors-either for sale, or for spares for us.
