Republican Bob Turner Beats Democrat David Weprin

NEW YORK — It sounded improbable on the surface that a New York City congressional district where Democrats have a 3-1 registration edge and have held office for nearly a century could even come close to electing a Republican to the U.S. House.

But voter frustration over the sour economy and President Barack Obama's policies made the improbable a reality, as a Republican political novice, Bob Turner, scored an upset victory in a special election Tuesday over David Weprin, a Democratic assemblyman from a prominent local political family. The surprising results in the Brooklyn and Queens-area district portend a perilous national environment for Obama as he prepares to seek re-election next year.

Also Tuesday, Republican Mark Amodei won a landslide victory in a U.S. House special election in Nevada, an important presidential swing state

The news last night all but said Perry vs Obama was going to be the race in the next election. Polar oposites. Great. I certainly won't vote for either of those choices. I hope ANYONE else with a reasonable message comes along. If they say even one thing about putting China in its place, they will get my vote.

So, this is the single issue that will determine your vote? You can not be serious!

Bucky, just how shallow are you? With all the problems we as a nation face today and you base your vote on words instead of issues. WOW!!!

It is the single issue that is getting NO attention in Washington, and deserves a great deal of attention. The Tea Party is single issue reduce the size of government. The republicans are pretty much single issue: The oppisite of whatever Obama says. Give me a decent candidate who will at least address the China issue...they are way ahead of the two big parties. Plus, if they are willing to address that issue, then they probably have the schnuts to nail other third rail issues too. We need that today. I'm guessing I hurt your feelings saying that one of the other two choices aren't worth a hoot.

You did not hurt my feelings and I am amazed by your shallow qualifications for president.

You demonstrate you ignorance of the Tea Party also by claiming they are for a single issue. I will give you credit for stateing one of their issues though.

Just reorder the words. Tea party ignorance.

Michelle Obama Takes ‘Let’s Move’ Campaign to Olive Garden.

The kids’ menus are getting a bit healthier at Red Lobster, Olive Garden and other Darden Restaurants Inc., the company announced Thursday, and First Lady Michelle Obama was on hand at an Olive Garden in Hyattsville, Md., to tout the development as a “breakthrough moment.”

The changes in the kids’ menu will begin right away and will be fully implemented by next July. Fruits or vegetables will be the default side option, rather than French fries, and 1% milk will be the default beverage choice. Food illustrations on the kids’ menu will promote healthy choices, and carbonated beverages won’t be displayed. One or more kids’ menu items will provide 600 calories or fewer.

More changes will soon be mandatory

Debit card fees just the latest unwelcome change for checking account customers

NEW YORK (AP) -- Bank of America will start charging debit-card users $5 a month to pay for purchases. The move comes as the cards increasingly replace cash and as banks look for ways to offset the loss of revenue from a new rule that will limit how much they can collect from merchants.

Paying to use a debit card was unheard of before this year and is still a novel concept for many consumers. But several banks have recently introduced or started testing debit card fees. That's in addition to the spate of other unwelcome changes checking account customers have seen in the past year. Bank of America will begin charging the fee early next year.

More bad news for bank customers: Debit card fees

The China problem is the single largest problem we have. Most of the jobs lost are due to China, our deficit is owed to China and they are manipulating the dollar exchange rate.
If you bring back all of the jobs lost to China there would be almost no unemployement and the housing, banking and other markets would be better off to.
Bring back the jobs and the Tax Revenue earned would be way up.
Right now the problem is all of the jobs have gone to China leaving a larger tax load for a smaller work force to pay for.
Many that lost jobs due to China have got new jobs but at a way lower pay rate. The unemployed now sits just below 10% but the under umployed is around 25%.

I can tell you this Obama spending more money is not the solution to the job loss to China.

Where are the jobs? Gone with automation mostly.

Just think of all the jobs that have been lost to the computer age.

Computers are real labor savers, but what does that mean? If the people that computers replaced just died, and there were fewer people born, well maybe things would be equal.

You may as well forget cutting China out. You would have to cut too many big companies out, and that AIN'T GONNA HAPPEN.
