OM gosh! Enough already! **** happens, so get over it! Oh boy here I go with my two cents, and I don't care! So someone oiled down the frickin' track! I don't think they got up in the morning and said, "Hey we are going to PRP, so let's oil down the track and cause a huge delay." The weather sucked that day but the race got in, most of it. PRP did what they could do, and sometimes that's all you can do. So pack up, go home, go have a beer, ice-cream or eat at a blood and guts, and come back! It's a new day! It's not the end of the world, well maybe in December!

I was the first to see the oil coming out of the car. I then heard the pop and saw the body panel go flying so I knew you had major damage and we were in touble. If you could I would appreciate it if you could tell me what that green slime is so I can make some phone calls to figure out how I can clean it better. Recently we got a new soap (at $920 a barrel) that was working much better than the old stuff that we had. On synthetics and non synthetics as well as the new powder that we just swithed to which went from $7 a bag to $13 but again it works so much better. I don't know why it didn't work as well on your lubricant so any information you can give me would be appreciated.

No buddy likes to see an oil down. We're pushing equipment to the limit, it's going to happen. We were behind the eight ball to begin with when we had a totally drenched track and we took hours to get it ready. Hats off to managment for making a call that in years past would of been the opposite. Everybody wanted to race including the pro mods and outlaw dragsters and I for one would not want to see them run on a differant day. It is my job to get not only our bracket cars but any show cars down the track and it gives me great satisfaction when I do. It's great to see a change of pace.

Back in the Mike and Phyllis day we did not have thousands of dollars worth of eguipment to give us an opportunity to clean up an oil down and continue to race. With everything that is going on in the world and most recently with the storm that wrecked havic on PRP take a look at what you have because in less than a minute it can be taken away. I have said this before and will continue to say it,RACING IS NOT A RIGHT IT IS A PRIVLEDGE.

Keith, I'm not mad at you. PRP racers, I am sorry that between Dave Adams, Bill Turk, Randy Good, Greg Miller and myself that we couldn't get the track repaired in time to race today. The more we got into it the more we found burned up, blowed up, etc. We just ran out of time and hopefully we can get everything we need and be up and running for thursday night.

Great post Keith. I think it was Brad Penn Oil. I may be wrong though. I usually am.

I heard it was brad penn to but no verification. I do know that brad penn is not the consistancy of rear end grease which is what was on the track.

I also know that putting alcohol on the track and setting it on fire was working but the dew set in and put an end to that.

It is obvious that the people who race at PRP are very appreciative of the efforts of the crew that preps the track and cleans up the messes. It is not just their efforts that should be appreciated but also their skill. One of the people who was the most disappointed at the situation at the last Asphalt Wars race was Jason Hamstra's father Kevin. Kevin thought the track was in phenomal shape before the oildown and he was licking his chops at the prospect of running in the 3.6's. The Hamstra's were the 2011 ADRL Pro Extreme World Champions, the quickest and fastest door car racing association in the world. Ask anyone who races ADRL, their track prep is hands down the best anywhere, so if Kevin Hamstra tells you the track is good, believe me it is good. Kevin was still raving about how good the track was at PRP when we were at Thompson Saturday. Also, when the Asphalt Wars were at PRP in May there was an oildown right before the final round of Outlaw Dragster. With it being their first visit to PRP the Hamstra's didn't know what to expect and were very pleased with the condition of their lane after the cleanup. One other thing that the drivers like is Keith always walks over to the next pair in line after a cleanup and tells them the condition of the track which is always "the track is good". Keith hasn't been wrong about that yet. PRP has quite a reputation as a good track to race on.

Keith, don't worry about it, there isn't a person in the world who would think any racer at your caliber would purposely knowingly ignore that they're oiling the track... i for one, as i'm sure most, are surprised that any of you guys knew at all what was happening, especially in a rear engine dragster... no one will be throwing rocks at you guys, we totally love to watch you all, it's super cool to be racing my piece of junk street car at the same time as you guys (and gals) are racing your incredible machines... i would wait all night to race or even not race... sure, no one likes oil downs, but hey that's drag racing... the faster it goes, the bigger the boom... i'll never complain about an oildown.. that is, unless it's someone else who's running a piece of junk like mine at the track and blows up in their street car and doesn't pull over... now THAT would get anyone pissed off... ha... but hey, can't wait till you guys come back, always a major thrill to see you run... hope you didn't see too much damage on your car!
thank you for your commets,I still feel bad about it, but thes really helps

Wow..70W in the engine. Eek Car

Bet that gets tough to start if the weather cools if you aren't using a coolant heater.

There is no coolant in those engines. We used to use one of those small proprane grills under the oil pan to warm the oil if it the weather was cold. We also had to use an alcohol/gasoline mix to get it started as alcohol does not like to light when it's cold.

Keith thank you for getting that information to me and Tom Lang thank you for that link. I have already faxed that information and spoke over the phone to Fast Track products (the maker of the soap)and between the both of us we are coming up with a solution.

I know all to well how good the track was and was also looking forward to PRP's first 3.6 run. I was probably more disappointed than any one that we were unable to complete the meet

Does anyone know if they got the junior race finished last weekend (7-21-12)? I believe they had ran the semis when we left.
They haven't updated the points so we are assuming they didn't get the race finished? Anyone know?

Most important, keep the shiny side up

great to be running at the track again, thanks to the track crew for putting it all back together... could see lots of trees down driving in the front gate.... i only got 2 runs in before sending a pushrod into a parallel dimension, but i finally got into the 11's! an 11.86 for my career best... and my first major breakdown... (does this make me a real racer now that i got towed home? ha)... major thanks to Dave Poorman for helping me out get my car back all the way to the South Side, that was super awesome of him, and everyone else who offered their help and advice... got the best bunch of racers at PRP who would still help out a rookie with his piece of junk... hope to get her fixed tomorrow, but it'll be cutting it really close... if i'm lucky things will get delayed and i can show up for at least Round 1... (time trials, time trials, don't need no stinkun' time trials! lol)
