Ferndale and Progas both of you are proof America is or was greatest Country in the World. You left home early, life was not easy and you were able to make it and thrive.

Although my parents were fully supportive of me they were also ones who like myself believe you have to get out and earn everything you get. When we grew up you had the opportunity to make it if you worked for it. The opportunity is still there but many are not looking for it. They may be looking for excuses but not opportunity.

Many of thew children now are not having to go out and get jobs, they are not taking on responsibility and some are still living with or off of their parents.

We also have many children raised up not really knowing both parents and expecting to live of the rest of us.

With the desire to make it better for our children through the generations we have created a weak and soft society that may not make it.

"Dunning-Kruger Effect"
-a type of Cognitive bias where people with little expertise or ability assume they have superior expertise or ability. This overestimation occurs as a result of the fact that they do not have enough knowledge to know they don't have enough knowledge.

Before you argue with someone ask yourself, "Is this person mentally mature enough to grasp the concept of a different perspective?" If not there is no point to argue.

No racing here until Sept. Plus, debating if I'll run the Bracket Finals; guess I should, it's at my home track.

Hope all is well with everyone!

We are basking in the Sun. VA removed 2 skin cancers yesterday. Had to have that Sun tan when I was young. Anyway it’s hot here.
OK, motor home suffered from lack of maintenance. 2 batteries were toast, worked the alternator to death and it punished me. 3 new batteries and waiting on the new alternator.
Man down the road is offering $25 an hour to pick up hay bales from the field and put them in the barn. I did that for $1.00 an hour, maybe less. Really people life has been good and when it was bad I was to dumb to know it. Stay safe

Good Morning Everyone:

Stay hydrated and cool this hot weather can be dangerous, especially on older folks. We have had several experienced hikers some in their late teens encounter heat strokes, unfortunately a few didn't survive. Be smart this isn't the time to prove you are still young and can endure anything. Heat strokes are not a joke, after the first one the second one comes faster and can be deadly. This heat wave will end I'd like to know that all of you will be alive and healthy when it does.

No event or Series is worth risking your life, be smart

Bob

We did it by the bale. By the hour would have made me work too slow. LOL

Well Fern, I guess I had it better off, I got a buck and a quarter an hour for bucking hay and cleaning milking barns. And at the end of one summer, the rancher I was working for gave me a 1948 pontiac with the straight 8 in it and a wonderbar radio. No radio stations but I like to watch the needle go back and forth looking for one. I was 12.

I don't post much but I'll reply Fern!

Cecil County has a race this weekend, Jim Halsey is picking up for the loss of Atco. $100 to enter with $70 going into the payout. If enough cars they will separate Box & No Box( might be Footbrake but not sure).
It has a good response on Facebook. Could be a good turnout for a spur of the moment race. Looking to pay over $10K. Not sure if total purse or winner.

I'm with you, FB is assinine but it's part of the times unfortunately.

Hope all's doing well!

Cool

M120 I don't know who you are but I probably do. I have many memories from Atco, some good some bad. Worst was when one of my friends got killed there years ago. Another was when one of my friends hit a deer right after the finish line in the 1/4 finals. We patched the car up enough that he got to the finals where he lost. Then there was the 2 day race where my license ran out the first day and they would not let me race the next day. Yes lots of memories. Would be nice if Cecil would pick up the slack pf Atco and Capitol also.

Greetings all!

I saw the Darlington Dragway thread. I hauled back East a few times to race some moons ago. I was blessed to see my 1st Donk race & it was a Circus to put it mildly. Racing back East is definitely different than out West, but I had fun.

Hope all is well with everyone!

Well I made it. Sat it was hot, dam hot. 2 time runs and lost round 3, .007 red other guy was .010 red right behind me and ran dead .001. According to 60 and 330 I to would have ran dead on but not today, car did not shift into high gear! Turned out to be the shifter solenoid and since I could not fix it I came on home.

Very light turn out for what looked like a pretty good race to me. BUT tracks cannot schedule on top of each other like this with both Rockingham and Roxboro having a race the same day and racers not willing to get off their a$$ and go for the sorriest reasons. I mean at least 5 near me sitting at home and will be the first to complain that their is no racing. Oh well Fern had a good time and will be back out soon.

Fern, we still got it good here on the east coast even with the loss of ETown and now Atco. We travel but I’d give up racing if I HAD to drive 1000 miles to race. Word is now with Atco gone, Cecil will be hosting more bracket races after their bracket race this past Saturday.

Good morning y’all how we all doing?

Hey Big Ed you’re right I wouldn’t drive 1000 miles for a race. But this wasn’t a race this was an event. Firebird raceway in Boise has been doing the same event for 52 years. It just wasn’t a bracket race paying 10,000 it was nostalgia top fuel dragster‘s funny cars and altered too. The stands are full all 3 days, these people know how to promote the track and the crowds come by the thousands. Live local TV coverage and even supported by the local business including a Major hospital. And where else do you get a half pound of ice cream for a couple bucks.

Whole pound for $1.00 at Norwalk--LOL

Its like me going to Bradenton and Bristol. They are events.

Ed you got some good tracks left---Newmedia, Maple Grove, Cecil. And not much further to Mason Dixon and MIR. But we got to go to keep them open.

I wouldn’t drive 1000 miles for an event either, no mind for a nostalgia anything. I’ll take a Street Outlaws NPK event over that all day every day!

Very well-known event & something more tracks need to do; bring spectators in! I raced a Divisional there many years ago & remember they had a good spectator turnout for that also.
