OK I got home ok but, When I got out of the bus I found a trailer tire going down pretty fast. Lucky, I made it home so I got my air hose, plugged it and aired it up. At about 40lbs that boy exploded like a bomb in another spot. I'll have to get it off and see what is up with that. Had one hearing aid acting up so drove 60mi to Costco and got that fixed, maybe. Haven't had them a month. Grass is high so I got the back yard mowed this morning before it got to 90. Front will have to wait. Takes about 3 hours for the back and 4 for the front. Guess I'll sit on the front porch now with a cool drink and watch the cows, and 2 Llamas! Everyone stay safe.

Howdy all, hope everyone is doing well, not melting or getting washed away.

Fern, glad you had a good time at WFC. I'm glad the bus tire didn't go on you while you were traveling. Are you going to the Labor Day $250k? I highly doubt I will be, but yaneverknow.

I'm hoping my engine is done tomorrow or Friday, and I can pick it up Sunday and start making some progress. I'm excited to get it back and be back in the '81. The '69 needs a good bit of tlc. I'm band-aiding it through for now, but it needs a rest and a lot of love. I think I want to go through it all and put it back on the street and have some fun driving it.

You all be safe out there.

Hey Chuck. Man what is up with our teams this year? I'm afraid when we have a series together they are both so bad it could be a 20 run games each time. I know we will both still cheer for them but it is making for a long year and I'm afraid the Cards are going to go into a wholesale player dump.

Life is good. Nick is roasting, Floyd is missing, but glad Chuck is here more often. Hearing aid wasn’t fixed so I am back to signing. Think for $2k they would last a month. Everyone stay safe and cool.

It is warm out here but that's why we have AC and fans.

109* in the foothills of the Laguna mountains near my home, 120* in the desert just over the hill so I won't complain about it being 97* at my house.

Good afternoon guys hope you all are doing well. As Fern said I am roasting. Not doing much but cooling down in the AC. Down here we are doing rain dances to get the monsoon started but it’s not working ! Thinking about going to Nights of Fire in Boise first week of August.

You all have a great weekend!

It's so Hot

Somehow I forgot to mention that after I got home from WFC I mowed the lawn and turned around and drove 400mi up to the Ohio river for a family reunion. Went up on Sat and back on Sunday. Nick I have never seen it rain as hard as it did in VA on the trip back. I mean it was awful. So that’s where your rain was. Over here in Durham now for a few days. Floyd they sent mine back to the factory. Life is good. Everyone stay safe.

My luck ran out, sorta! Up all night throwing up. Never barfed that much when I was drinking. Anyway went to ER at 9am and got admitted. 2 IV bags and some other meds and they let me go home 12hrs later claiming "there is a bug going around". They scanned me and checked everything and said all my internal parts were good so I'll keep on chugging. Came back out here to the country this morning.

Interesting thing, the haze is so bad everyone is running with their head lights on and on the news just now they said it was smoke from the fires in Canada. Long ways from here in NC to Canada so I can only imagine how it is up North. Everyone stay safe.

JRED,

Nice! We are jealous here in the Vegas area, wish we would get some of that heavy Monsoon stuff.

I believe that a lot of folks with heat exhaustion will be mis diagnosed with having the flu, or Covid. This happens when people like Fauchi, Faushi (whatever) make decisions that conform to their agenda and the increase in the size of their wallet. Ever wonder if people in our Government got kick backs from Pfizer or Moderna ?

Getting old ain't a bad thing Fern when compared to the alternative, as in you stop living. It can be a sign of wisdom or at least determination. I believe you have both.

Bob, I agree with you for the most part of your statement, but, my fear is not dying, it is being alive and not being able to live. My biggest fear is sitting in the middle of a room being spoon fed baby food and having to have someone change my diaper. That is not living. I would rather have the "alternative". I watched my sister in that state for about a month before she passed. I was disappointed that our Governor vetoed the physician assisted suicide bill this year. I do have it in my living will that no life extending measures be taken if I am too far gone, but I have seen that can be overridden in some cases.

Fern isn't trying to leave here any time soon if I can help it. To dam hot right now for a funeral anyway + I got a bunch of new stuff in my race car I need to wear out. Its kind of awkward looking back over my life. I mean I remember no water in the house, out house, wood cook stove and wood heat in the winter, no phone, no car, grew almost everything we ate, milked our cows by hand, this could go on and on. Now look at all I have and have done. Been pretty blessed for sure, I don't even believe my life. Every one stay safe

Fern my life was sort of like yours.

The day I graduated from High School I went home from the school ceremony and found all my "Stuff" on the front porch, all the locks changed with a note on the front door, it said "Don't ever come back". I never did. I was homeless for 16 months living in the back seat of my car until the day I joined the Army. Since I enlisted the Recruiter asked what I would like to do, I told him I wanted to be in the Infantry, so I was.

My wife and I have four boys, four girls, 23 grand children, 4 great grandchildren and we all live in the greatest Country on Earth.

Regrets, none!

Howdy all. Man, I don't know how you all out in the heat in the south, south west, and west deal with it. I think I would burst into flames. It's bad enough here when it gets into the humidity and temps in the mid to high 80s. I'm glad we rarely hit 90s for more than a day or two in a row.

Curtis, the Pirates are where I thought they would be. April was great, but I knew they weren't playing against the best teams. Everything went right that month. I really thought the Cards would surge. That's a good line up (what line up isn't, when you have Arrenado and Goldschmidt), but the starting pitching hasn't been there.

Fern, I hope you're all good now, whatever bug you were dealing with. I'm going to stick with the "not growing up, still plays with cars" part of growing older. You've seen much more than me, both of the world, and the changes in it, but I have the same feeling of being blessed. I'm in awe of the good stuff I've been able to see and do, and my troubles have been very minor in the grand scheme of things.

Floyd, I hope you're able to hear a bit better, and the AC and fans are keeping you and Woody sufficiently cool.

Bob, is the desert over the hill Death Valley? Stay around until I can get out to CA again, maybe I can swing by and shake your hand in person.

Hey Nick, I hope you haven't melted out there. It sure does seem like whenever we wash cars, the rain soon follows. I'm hoping everyone around here leaves them dirty, so we get our $15Ks in next weekend.

Pushrods shipped yesterday from Smith Brothers, hoping next week my engine will be done for the '81. I finally won a round last week in the '69, and should have won second round, but I turned it red to a .244 package. That's racing.

I hear we lost 2 racers today, a jet car driver at Quaker City, and a racer at US41. My thoughts are with their family and friends, and fellow racers. It was one of the worst days I've ever had at a track, losing a racer.

You all stay safe out there.

Progas they never kicked me out, I left at 15. I look back on life and don't believe it happened but life is and has been good mostly.

I planned to go to Darlington yesterday to race but that started going bad as soon as I started. Make a long story short I ended up 1/2 way there dead in the middle of the road. Long story. I was out there in the hot sun trying to jerry rig something to make it go when a man stopped to help me. We got it rigged up so it would go (looked like Jed Clampet)and he followed me 60 miles up the road toward home. I stopped to thank him and found out that he and his father, who was a racer, had visited me at my home in Baltimore maybe 30 years ago. Imagine that!

OK got to get out here and see what I can do to get this mess back in order. Its hot here but manageable. Everyone have a good day and stay safe.

Howdy all. Getting a bit warm here, looks like rain Saturday will cool things off. Still can't imagine dealing what so many are dealing with west, southwest, and south. I work the lanes Friday for our $15k, real feel will be high 90s. I'm already pre-hydrating. I'm hoping the rain Saturday doesn't wash out the whole day.

Fern, hope you are all fixed up now. Pretty cool to find out your good Samaritan had visited you 30 years ago.

Stay cool and safe out there.
