I'm pretty sure I don't want to discuss this past weekend of racing. I'll spare the BS, I sucked & so did the car; regardless it was all my fault. I did learn some things, we'll see if I can apply them in the next races!

This was our 1st time at Famoso in Bakerfield, CA with the ProCharged combo. This track has a lower elevation & better air than we are used to in Vegas. The DA ranged from about 1200' - 2500' & the temps ranged from high 60s to mid 80s.

Anyway, our 60's were varying a good amount between 1.34 - 1.35. Plus, we had 3 runs with tire shake, then into tire spin. The tire did hook after a quick peddle.

For the last day of racing, Sun. I added a real mild launch retard to the tune. While I only got 2 runs after doing that, the 60' repeated with 2 1.366s.

I really don't blame the tires this past weekend. I'm asking a lot from this tire, bracket racing in the 5.6 - 5.7 range 1/8th mile. While I think the launch retard is a crutch (maybe). I did see a video of one of my runs. I noticed I need to tighten the extension on the front shocks.

We're racing this weekend at our home track in Las Vegas with a T&T on Fri. & points races on Sat. & Sun. Not really looking forward to it with predicted temps 103* & 106* & we start around noon. Eek The track is stupid for not making changes for the heat & we are even more stupid for supporting it!

Besides being stupid, I plan on still using the launch retard that was mentioned above in another thread. I'm hoping to find some more consistent 60's this coming weekend in the heat.

Hope to see you out there. I'm battling starter issues.
I will have to keep the AC going in the RV this weekend! Maybe go to the movies after we're done for the day(seems like the movies are as expensive as bracket racing)

I'm not in a bad mood, I just look that way.........

This past weekend was hot & the same for everyone. After seeing numerous racers leaving the track Sat. I & a friend/racer decided to pack up Sun. morning early & not race.

Sat. race I went out in the 1st round. I found out I don't have a good tune-up for the hot weather!

Got to 2nd round Saturday and lost a double breakout race by .001
On Sunday I threw out a .004 pack on my team mate Rick Emanuel.
In rd 2 I had the same guy as Saturday and found the brake pedal (got yelled at for that)let him by and won.
Just figures in rd 3 I had brain fade and left in drive and lost by 2 tenths Shake head
Not their fault but the track guys were in a big hurry to finish up and I let it rattle me a little but I don't blame them it was 101* outside and about 120 in he car.

Usually, I wait to post a race till a bit closer. Guess I'm a little exiting to be getting back after it after being off for 2 months!

Next Fri. Sept. 5th we are heading to an outlaw track in Northern NV. Winnemucca to be exact. I'll be doing some 6.0 index, gambler & bracket racing for 2 days.

I really like what they're doing with the index classes. No boxes or throttle stops & on a .500 pro tree.

Hope my dually gets fixed in time. It goes into the dealer on Sept. 2nd. for a warranty torque converter seal leak. Supposed to be out at the latest on 3rd in the afternoon, but we know how that goes!

2BKING looking forward to a relaxing time at a no name track. Smile

Dually didn't get fixed, they had to order parts. They should be in today or tomorrow. I have it scheduled to go back in on Mon.

I'm leaving late tomorrow morning for the trip, 6.5 hrs. & about 460 miles. Everything is ready to go except for loading the car & hooking up the truck.

2BKING hoping to knock some cobwebs off & win some rounds. Big Grin

Well I made it up there. Hot and humid but I made 2 passes Fri in the T&T that although a tenth off were the same. Got out there Sat and went the same on my time run. First round I was .004 and took the win. Second round I am .007 to his .007 and I went dead on and got the finish by.0014. Then the rain came. I don't know if they got it dried up and continued but I left and drove in the rain all the way home + us old folks get a little tired. It was a good trip + I got to see a few old friends, thats always worth the trip win or lose. Everyone stay safe.

"Dunning-Kruger Effect"
-a type of Cognitive bias where people with little expertise or ability assume they have superior expertise or ability. This overestimation occurs as a result of the fact that they do not have enough knowledge to know they don't have enough knowledge.

Before you argue with someone ask yourself, "Is this person mentally mature enough to grasp the concept of a different perspective?" If not there is no point to argue.

Just wanted to say, I knew most of this before even departing for this race at Good times Drag Strip in Winnemucca, NV. The outlaw track is run by a non-profit organization. It's 4,600' ASL (DA was 6900' or above), the track was constructed around 2007 & is all asphalt, except the burnout box. From what I saw the track gets a light spray of glue once per day & gets dragged once or twice a day.

My #1 goal was to have a good time & I succeeded with icing on the cake!

My 1st run on the track was a 6.291 & I should have pulled the chute at 400'; this was a time shot for the 6.00 index class. My 2nd hit was a 5.951 & that was what my app was predicting. In eliminations I ran (1) 5.977 when my opponent went red & the rest of the runs were low 6.0s. My reaction times were better than all opponents I ran.

As mentioned in another post, I won the 6.0 index class & the icing on the cake was the pay-out; it was much bigger than the trophy! It was a midget trophy but I didn't really care.

The next day bracket race was run in the middle of the day. My 1st run was a 5.988 & the rest of the passes were low 6s. The car was spinning the tires at the hit. I had a launch retard activated but I was a retard for not killing more power with it. I went out in the 2nd round after a buyback round.

I plan to go back next year to support the track if my racing schedule allows it. I had a great time & was a driving fool on the track!

If anyone wants to see this place on Google maps or their website/FB page. I'll post up the info if requested. Big Grin
