well racer nation, it's official. I am looking to see who can wheel the lime-slime full time for the 2014 season. I sense there will be hundreds of applicants. this job is not for the weak. there are strict requirements involved for all who apply. with the build on the new car going ahead of schedule, I thought I would put the word out this year because I expect an overwhelming response. do you think you have what it takes? can you wear the green suit like a super marvel? handle all the pressure of this pro stock operation? stay tuned as I will be giving out more details in the next few days. a chance of a lifetime. Quaker city is coming to the Pittsburgh convention center this coming January. Talked with Norm on Saturday about setting up a booth at the world of wheels car show. He gave me the go ahead to run with it and so I am. I am Building the back drop where banners and pictures can be displayed tonight .This show brings 10's of thousands of people threw in a 3 day affair. Norwalk and Pittsburgh tracks have done this for years. It's good pr. Glenda is working on a 2 by 8 banner and some present day pictures of all the track improvements. If any one has any old Quaker memorabilia that we could use in our presentation, call me at 724-695-0188. We are planning to do the same at the Cleveland car show in march. Anyone up that way that could help us set up would be appreciated.

Just a suggestion to add to this. Have schedules ready and pass them out at these events.

Ask racers to be available to take care of the booth. Set up maybe 4hr shifts and have a couple guys there at all times. Have solid info to answer questions. Nobody wants to hear "well I heard" or "so and so said" or "this is what we would like to do" as Joe Friday says just the facts.
Sounds like a great opportunity to kiss hands and shake babies !!

The schedule is the most important hand out we need to have ready and it must be set in stone. Nothing to be added or deleted later. I'LL be getting on my q16 deal early like next week. Also i want to get a big Sunday jr race figured in there somehow to. Marco has helped me out a good bit on the q16 so i ask him for a show transmission and convertor along with some flyers and his new catolog for display at the show. i'am really exited about this car show thing. Wayne's gonna help manning the booth but if anyone wants to chime in don't hesitate to call. This show has always helped mike and i get thru the off season.

George,

Count me in if you need help or a couple racers to attend. I have some memorabilia and John Sweitzer has a ton of it. Need to reach out to john as he has some really old photos taken in the 60's, 70's and early 80's. Let me know how I can help.

Well boys, Have a great Turkey day....Thanksgiving is a day of giving thanks for all the blessings we have in this life. I for one have a lot to be thankful for. My wife and kids, my friends and most of all those soldiers that are serving our country. Please think of those men and women when you sit down with your families and be sure to pray for their safe return to their families.

does anyone know why QC isn't running a Pro Am this year. I thought for sure that 2014 they'd get one. Always enjoyed running the Pro Am's at Quaker

Really is a good facility to hold it and the BF event as well. Plenty of parking, great track surface and really not unreasonable for finding lodging within 30 minutes of the track.

On a side note.... I believe that Culps double knee replacement was a success and he should be on his way home to start rehab. He is progressing very well based on the facebook updates. He did indicate that his left knee has been loaded for footbraking. I think that was the pain meds talking.

Wasn't there one either at Quaker or planned to be at Quaker during the Swindell years and then Thompson hosted it once and then it ended up permanently maybe in Illinois ?

Guys, thanks for all the well wishes on here and on facebook. I have gotten several calls as well and I thought I would provide you all an update. On Monday, I received two brand new knees, total replacements. We had hoped that we could get away with partials, but it turned out that my knees were pretty torn up. The doctor told my wife that my kness were all all inflamed, bone spurs and fragments throughout both joints. He told my wife that I must have a very high pain tolerance, which I state is obvious if you look at who my friends are (Ha, Ha, Ha). I am pretty young guy for this type of surgery and for this much damage. However, the Cleveland Clinic is the best and they were able to fix me up. Monday was painful, all day. I could not move without sever pain. By Thursday I was walking the halls with my walker and climbing steps, climbing into and out of bed, putting on my clothes, and climbing into my truck for a ride home. They told me that there are very few bilaterials that get to go directly home instead of a rehab facility.

I am progressing through my rehab very well. I have at least 5 more weeks of rehab, possibly 7. However, the pain I feel now is only related to the surgery and is much less than the pain I felt every good day at the track. My knees feel better today than they have in the past 2 years.

Please feel free to drop me a call or email/message if you would like over the next several weeks as I am pretty bored most of the day.

Again, thanks to all that have checked on me. I hope to see you all at the banquet in a couple of months.
