Final Qualifying Order

2. Pete Ignatovic 4.4756 161.52
3. Ray Schuler 4.4905 158.73
4. Mike Jones 4.5192 158.28
5. Matt Sam 4.5406 158.17

Round One Eliminations

W-Schuler .0284 4.4413 159.52
Jones .0619 4.4994 158.90

W-Ignatovic .0013 4.4480 161.75
Sam .0376 4.5099 158.62

W-Kulbrick .0770 4.5455 152.85
Bye

Final Round Eliminations

W-Schuler .0439 4.4351 161.64
Ignatovic .0607 4.4222 163.28

Notes- No I didn’t skip a round of eliminations, Kulbrick hurt his (actually Ron Solyan’s) engine on his first round bye run. Both Schuler and Ignatovic expressed a desire to skip running two second round bye runs and proceed directly to the final round. Quaker City General Manager Greg Miller allowed the teams to make the decision in this case so we skipped round two.

Six cars showed up for the race. The teams were given a shakedown pass to allow them to test the condition of the racetrack. Dale Pittman broke something on his shakedown pass and was unable to take part in qualifying.

All the teams were invited to walk the track with Greg Miller at noon so they could get a good look at what they were going to be dealing with. During the track walk I heard several different drivers say if you raced IHRA Pro Am races you’ve raced on worse tracks than this. During the shakedown session the best ET was Dale Pittman’s 4.42 at 156. Kulbrick ran 4.50 at 168, Sam ran 4.61 at 155.

Even though only five cars took part in eliminations Greg Miller stuck to the posted purse and they paid out the purse in full.

I spend a lot of time circulating through the pits talking to the teams. Everybody I spoke with seemed very happy with the condition of the track and how the race was run. They all expressed a desire to run the rest of the scheduled Door Wars races at Quaker City.

The next race on the Door Wars schedule is July 2nd. Greg would like to do a pre-entry for this race as it is his biggest show of the year, their night of fire type deal. Greg does not want to have another five car show on his biggest night so he needs to get an idea on who wants to race that day. He will be sending out an e-mail to all the teams on his list. If you did not receive an e-mail about the June 18th race and would like to receive future e-mails from Greg about these races please go to: http://www.typicalgearheads.com/ProMods.php and register. That will put you on Greg’s list.

There will be a full report on High Octane Racetalk Monday June 20th. The show airs from 6-8 PM on Cool 101.7 FM in Meadville PA. You can listen online at: http://www.cool1017online.com/ or http://www.msa-sports.com/The show is also archived on MSA Sports Network. I usually get to the drag racing at seven o’clock.

There will also be a report on Rappin’ on Racin’ at 8:15 PM. You can listen online at: http://www.speedwayproductions.biz/Those shows are also archived on MSA Sports Network and can be accessed through the Speedway Productions link.

I would think someone would put the word out besides the few teams that showed up for a meeting and left an email. Some of those guys I saw there this weekend have more in those cars but why stand on them for a small field that you are in just paying your entry. Some real good ET's for those guys. Can't wait to see this show on the new race surface.

I figured going in that the turnout would be light. Nobody knew for sure what the track could handle. Now that some people have gone down the track more cars will show knowing that the track is manageable. We will see larger fields and quicker ETs as the year goes on. Next year it will be great.

I have to say, that the blue oval army showed up in Mod this past weekend. An all Ford final is not acceptable anymore. Especially when one of those Blue Ovals was a lime green pinto....Congradulations to John Sweitzer for his win in Mod.

Wayne, Wayne, Wayne....boy you really let us down.

I lasted longer than you.......... my excuse is the glare of the lights off of the lime green pinto caused temporary blindness, when my sight returned the pinto was getting away. Eyes

Congratulations John, job well done. not worthy
