Running on the chip is illegal. This is essentially what they referred to as a 'stutter box' decades ago.

Gosh Michael, you should call up Jeff Foster at LVMS & tell him B King was on the chip during one time hit! I guess Jeff should have disqualified my time hit; sorry you have to forget that time hit is null & void. Roll Eyes

I wasn't close to the chip on any other runs, eliminations or different races. Thanks for telling me something I already know, it was a mistake during a time run.

Glad you liked the information/post. Big Grin

I'm not even close to being somebody in bracket racing but I like to study/apply what the somebody's are doing. The wins are definitely slowing down as I get older but I'm having much more fun than when I was winning a good amount!

2BKING is on a roll these past 3 races, hopefully it continues this last part of the season. Smile

Rubber meets the road tomorrow morning around 8am, it's about a 5.5-hour drive to Barona. Looking forward to meeting up with a DRR member, Bob/RPROGAS. I've never met him before that I know of.

The trailer is all loaded & all I have to do is hookup the dually to it. I've been busy in the shop preparing the car for this event. While changing out the spare rear radials/wheels. I noticed oil on the right rear leaf spring. The AFCO shock decided to give up & start leaking, they're about 10 years old. I need to replace the fronts or have them rebuilt soon. Anyway, I have the new radials on with our beadlock rims. New shoes always seem to treat me well, we'll see. Race/event report to come, good or bad. Wink

Thanks, Goob for contributing to the thread. I hope you got your job back or found another!

Good but not great day of testing today for the 5.80 index & .400 pro tree. The left lane was working pretty good for us. Had two .06x lights & one .05x. My 60's were excellent with thee identical 1.337 60'.

As for the one pass in the right lane, not so good. .115 for reaction & a 1.36x 60".

We started out with 5.99 to check out the track. Next two passes were 5.82x & last pass we went 5.80x. We are carrying/holding around .1+

All ready for tomorrow, hopefully stay in left lane!

For those of you that have never personally met Bryan King I wanted to say that he is not only a seriously great racer but he has one of the best engineered and competitive cars I've ever seen.

It was a pleasure to finally meet Bryan.

2BKING Got another win today, I'm still on a roll! Big Grin

I'm really having fun racing again. It's not about the winning but it's icing on cake.

Little more to post up when I get home, probably Mon.

Come on BK you know it's ALL about winning. None of us would do it if we lost 1st round every week lol. I never seem to go home on a good note when I lose early....Like yesterday. 2nd round I am 11 and take .004 to be exactly .004 under. Opponent .004 dead 7 to be 11 total. If guys would cut 20 bulbs against me I might have a chance.

Mopar,

I've been racing going on 40 years & have done more than my fair share of winning! Winning used to consume me to the point where I was a pretty miserable & not a nice person to be around at the track. That's putting it very mildly!

That being said, winning is not the #1 priority anymore: although be it, I hope to be competitive when I do race. No one likes to go out early, but I do see some that do it consistently; they apparently are getting some satisfaction out of racing.

These last races the #1 priority has been to have fun, meet new people/racers, race at tracks that are less than the standard good/great tracks.

This past race at Barona, the #1 priority turned into meeting up with a Bob/RPROGAS a DRR member. It was great getting to know him & his wife! It was refreshing to see their love for the sport. Plus, get to know Bob on a more personal level, besides a keyboard. I hope I can grow up to be like RPROGAS & ferndaleflyer!

Fern would like to win but at 85 I am just happy to be there. Yesterday more wins than losses. 4 wins 2 losses. Saw lots of friends. 1 from SC I had not seen in maybe 15 years driving a 72 Cougar. He is about 70 and ran it right to the final on Sat. That stuff makes my day.

Anyone want to help me unload this mess now and get ready for the cold?

Excellent report Fern. I hope I can still compete (that’s the plan) if I make it as far as you have. I feel your pain with winter coming, but you all don’t know what cold is living in the South.

This is the follow up to the last sentence above. This is going to be a little different than usual & I'm going to call it support equipment issues:

I get to the track Thurs. afternoon. Tried to fire the main generator, the battery has a dead short. I have no recoil pull start; the wind took out the handle/rope about a year ago. Of course, I haven't fixed it & it nipped me in the butt! Pressed in my suitcase back-up generator.

Fri. after the 1st time run, I came back & the new radials had spun on the beadlocks; I didn't get the bead crush I had wanted & figured it might be an issue. Anyway, went change out the rims/radials & my floor jack took a shyt. Thanks to RPROGAS/Bob, I borrowed his.

Sat. put the battery charger on after 1st run & that had taken a shyt. Break out the back-up charger, better than nothing 15-amp max. My fan & water pump take about 30 amps when cooling between rounds.

Later Sat. night I started the back-up generator to charge the trailer battery. I turned on the exterior trailer lights so my pit neighbor could see to load up. It ran about 2 min. & crapped out, it would fire again but not stay running. Sun. morning it ran for about 20 min. with no issues. I also fired it up today & ran it for 30 min. with no issues. Go figure!

Luckily, I had some type of backup for most of the issues. The back-up generator cracked me up, at least it worked while I was racing.

Speaking of generators, I ordered a new Honda 7000 fuel injected Thurs. night. I'll fix the old 4500 generator & pass it down to one of the boys.

2BKING has most everything fixed. Smile
