I'm more curious how there is a fix for tree reading devise, when they haven't even been able to prove that anybody is using it. How would you ever prove to track owners that the system works to stop it from happening. You would figure if they have a fix to stop it then they should be able catch somebody doing it.

Big thing is computer hackers, ransomeware and such. Let's start a real conspiracy theory deal. What if there was a way to hack into the computer system for the tree and timing system?

I'm absolutely Joe Nobody with old used junk. I recently made 3 passes with reaction times within .002 of each other. Adjusting for the delay settings, they were .011 .013 .012 red. It can be done.

Last year at Topeka I went back to back .001 green. Again, it can be done. And I'm 64 years old.

RIP

You can't find it if you don't look and if you look you need some one smart enough to know what they are looking for or at....

Just thinking out loud, if someone created an Anti-cheating tree reader device, wouldn't you think they would know how a tree reader worked in the first place?

Cool

I'll never have those skills.

Got to work at it. Once upon a time I had some skills at the top end of a track.
Had to, had the most inconsistent car ever.

People would ask how to work on their finish line skills. I would tell them it's simple, figure out you dialing, add .1, take your lumps until it works. You know at the start line you are holding. Figure out how to get rid of it.

Lot of lumps to take though. LOL

If they do know it's being done and are working on figuring out a way to stop it, they likely aren't going to admit it's going on. Just think what the acknowledgement of known cheating would do to attendance. Track owners and Promoters sure don't want to kill the big-money goose that's currently laying the golden eggs.

Then why would Scott Lemon start this thread and work with compulink on a system to stop it from happening? Something may or may not be going on. Until something is found or someone is caught who knows.

Engineer/ bracket racer here. creating this is far easier than people think. The hardest part would be aiming it and filtering out interference from outside light sources. Those could cause premature reads and issues of that nature. But photoeyes that sense light are relatively inexpensive and easy to use. Really anyone with a manufacturing job would probably wander around a plant and snag a handful of these of the shelf if they knew what they are looking for. far as locating wise, it would be quite difficult and time consuming to trace a wire leading to this to bust a cheater. It could be mounted on the back of a tach and tied into the wires leading off of it and then it would be next to impossible to even trace. You would just need to find someone with technical know how with photoeye experience.

if it's so easy, I challenge you to build the system and demonstrate it in use.

It would be easy for some people, never said me. For sure out of my wheelhouse. But I've had discussions with more than one person that agreed that it would not be something that difficult to create. it would just be difficult to fine tune based on what lane you were in and what track you were at. Besides, would'nt help me any anyways. I drive the finish line like stevie wonder would so even if i was perfect everytime, Id still screw it up on the top end.

For someone that works with this kind of technology, I think it would be fairly simple to make something to see the flash of the top bulbs. Hiding it perfectly, is another story. JMO, I could be wrong, I usually am.

I have to agree with Bob on this. I think it would be easy enough technology to do it but making it where you can hide it and read the light you want ONLY while blocking out other lights, cameras etc would be hard.

Still if anyone has any proof show it or shut up.

If you know anything FOR A FACT and you do not say anything you are part of the problem.

"Dunning-Kruger Effect"
-a type of Cognitive bias where people with little expertise or ability assume they have superior expertise or ability. This overestimation occurs as a result of the fact that they do not have enough knowledge to know they don't have enough knowledge.

Before you argue with someone ask yourself, "Is this person mentally mature enough to grasp the concept of a different perspective?" If not there is no point to argue.

Your dial-in will be the total time from green to the stripe.

NOW we'll see who's car / driver combination can really repeat.

I've felt for several years this is the future of bracket racing. jmo

Stop the 16 car splits. Pay (issue 1099) as the race flyer lays it out.
Anyone not sending out 1099's from a big bucks deal is cheating too.
Or is that "acceptable cheating"? Cool

If I were cheating, I'd just use it until I made the split, then race on the luck of the parking spot from there.
