Phil, you've completely misrepresented what either of these links you've posted are stating. The VPC findings do not differentiate being homicide, accidental shooting deaths, or suicides. Wyoming and Alaska ranked #1 and #2, respectively in suicide rates per 100,000 people. The suicide rates are more than double the national average. Since firearms are the most common method of suicide, the numbers you've posted from the VPC are wildly skewed. I'm unable to find any data that separates out accidental shooting deaths but I'm guessing those figures would skew the number dramatically as well... especially in states like AK, LA, MS, and WY where hunting is so prevalent. The Harvard "review" info you posted has no data, only opinions... and from what can be garnered from the synopsizes, the studies were highly skewed by adjusting for any number of influencing factors. You CANNOT refute what I posted about cities with the most restrictive gun ownership requirements having the highest instance of gun-related homicides!This message has been edited. While I agree the government going door to door is unlikely,Them making it against the law to own a gun and there fore making you a criminal for owning one,I can see highly possible. Think about it if you want to destroy America,what better way then setting off civil war.What better way to do that than try getting firearms. I was just watching C Span TV and there was Chris Van Holland, and Steny Hoyer (Hoyer got there in the first place because he was gerry mandered a district where he couldn't lose) and Pelosi....All from MD. Thats right Pelosi is the daughter of the crookedest Mayor Baltimore ever had. They were dead set aginst guns yet didn't have enough information to give an intelegent speech about it.....looked like the 3 stooges. I know this, when cab drivers in Baltimore armed themselves they stopped getting robbed, when they put armed sky Marshals in planes years ago the hi jacking stopped, (they were removed later) and since pilots now can now be armed we have had no more hi jacked planes...Congress meets behind armed guards, entertainers have armed guards, the President has armed guards. So why not an armed guard at a school or better yet an armed teacher??? Looks to me like it might work better than trying to impose more gun laws. People in Chicago have plenty of guns even though they legally aren't allowed to have them. There is already a proposal in the NC legislature to let teachers conceal carry. And that goof from WV all of a sudden realized how many gun owners he had back home. | |||
