All the different departments (for the most part)started out with a worthy mission. Problem is the ended up being used for political gain and now are overbearing with no oversite or they have become untouchable. Cov, great list. I think there are a couple on there for debate but the vast majority should be stopped tomorrow. Just think, open the gulf to drilling and close all the doors on those programs and it will be a wash on the unemployment or we will actually gain employmnet since a lot of the red tape will be gone, the gulf closer has killed several hundred thousand jobs and our taxes and debt would go down. I agree. IMHO most of the things we are talking about cutting were originally decent ideas for the most part. Problem is they ended up as political play toys and the original mission or intent was diverted/perverted into vote buying or just flat out control of something or some group.. I guess it's to much to ask for you to understand that the proposed cuts on the list are budget line items that require no legislation to eliminate. Real reform for reducing entitlement spending will take a lot more than issue a list of budget cuts. I'm not saying entitlement reform will happen under the new Congress but the list provided by Mr. Covey is a far cry better than previous Congresses have done for the last few years!! Do you personally DO anything to make your neighborhood / city better? Do you volunteer? Do you serve on a Home Owners Association Board? Try setting some policies and find out what is like. Get involved ......learn how to volunteer and lead by doing! Find out how hard it is......and isn't. It is easy to help others if you want to. | |||

I for one have done and am doing all the above of which you ask? I continually write to my elected representatives. For which I received nothing but condescending replies that go to prove that my elected officials think they are somehow superior in intellect than any of the constituents. I volunteer at local food banks and support charities. I am the President of our Home Owners Association.
