I have a real good observation for you. I live 20 miles from the Atlantic Ocean as the crow flies. Edge of Everglades, east of US27. I have had this place since 88. Have to carry flood insurance, etc.

We put an "in ground" pool in immediately upon moving here. I took the fill from the hole for pool and spread it in horse paddocks. I found fossilized evidence that coral reefs and seashells were once here. The layer of fossils were in rock about 2 feet below surface and ran anywhere from a foot to 18" deep on average.

The pool builder had debited for "demucking" and ended up crediting because my house/pool sits on base rock. The pool was contracted to 8 foot on deep end as all the young in my family are on tall side. The pool people begged me to allow 7-1/2' net depth because they beat up the equipment scraping.

To me this is solid evidence that where I live was covered in seawater in past. Is there any surprise it may be again?

Do you really think man is a major contributor?

Do tyou really think we can do any more than shore up levies/dikes and protect as much as possible?
