It is a BIG deal to win the award.

The very first sentence of that article is a lie. There were no where near 2,500 scientist involved with IPCC report. The majority of those signing off on the IPCC report were politicians. And last I heard, more than 500 of the actual scientist who initial were part of the report have asked that their names be removed because of the fraudulent manipulation of the report.

The fact that Yassar Arafat, Kofi Annan, Jimmy Carter, and Al Gore have received Nobel Peace Prizes goes show how politically motivated and insignificant the award has become.
