This is a bit of a listen but this old man has nothing to gain. He needs no funding, his only interest is honesty regarding the planet we live on.

John Coleman to put it bluntly is a disgruntled shyt flinger. He has no scientific bono fides, his Bachelor of Arts degree is in journalism. He has ZERO science education. He is not a ‘meteorologist’ but a weather man, i.e. an on air personality who announces the weather, which he has done lots of for sure. He helped found the weather channel, but was forced out after little more than a year. One wonders exactly why that happened? Those two things and $5.00 might get you a coffee at Starbucks.

So it seems Coleman’s professional background as a journalist and talking head announcing the weather made him an authority on global warming, somehow. It is an impression that Coleman encouraged. Global warming “is not something you ‘believe in’” he wrote once in a denialist screed. “It is science; the science of meteorology (not really its studied under climatology). This is my field of life-long expertise.” Unfortunately he has no scientific background or expertise to make such claims, his real background is little more than a talking head. He was once an accredited member of AMS, but again he and or they had a parting of the ways, they according to John were “too political” so I guess not sciency enough for him? Once again he actually did not have the science background to be a real meteorologist, much less a climatologist. By the way anyone with $52.50 can be a member of the AMS, maybe you should join CV.

Sorry CV, but dear old John is just a word smith/talking head at best and in regard to Global Warming he is just your garden verity shyt flinging know nothing denialist. As far as I can tell John Coleman has produced no scholarly articles, none accepted by any peer review journals. He has done no research in the field, i.e. gone outside and gathered data and used said data to support or refute any hypothesis he or anyone else has made, particularly in the area of climatology more specifically in the area of climate change. So he is a lot like you CV he shoots off his mouth a lot, to little or no good effect, I can therefore see why you seem to regard him so highly. Haven’t you carried John’s water for him a time or two here already? Yeah I am pretty sure you or someone here abouts has, and got pretty much the same reply from me.

So bottom line what you have provided here is just another flaming bag of shyt, that is nothing more than a fallacious appeal by way of false authority, among other fallacious arguments. Sorry it’s still a fail as usual and disproves nothing with regard to the well and truly settled science regarding Global Warming. At least to those of us that live in the real world and are not prone to magical thinking.

Just how truly settled science is regarding Global Warming?

Let's check out a more reputable source.

I know you're probably old enough to recall a series of stories that helped educate the public on how cool our planet used to be. Here’s one report from March of 1988:

One of the scientists, Dr. James E. Hansen of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration's Institute for Space Studies in Manhattan, said he used the 30-year period 1950-1980, when the average global temperature was 59 degrees Fahrenheit, as a base to determine temperature variations.

http://www.nytimes.com/1988/03...y-in-the-1980-s.html

In June of that year:

Dr. Hansen, who records temperatures from readings at monitoring stations around the world, had previously reported that four of the hottest years on record occurred in the 1980's. Compared with a 30-year base period from 1950 to 1980, when the global temperature averaged 59 degrees Fahrenheit, the temperature was one-third of a degree higher last year.

http://www.nytimes.com/1988/06....html?pagewanted=all

Well it looks like the following year there seems to be the consensus view at least among scientists quoted by the Times:

The British readings showed that the average global temperature in 1988 was 0.612 degrees Fahrenheit higher than the long-term average for the period 1950 through 1979, which is a base for comparing global temperatures. The average worldwide temperature for that 30-year period is roughly 59 degrees Fahrenheit, the British researchers said.

http://www.nytimes.com/1989/02...to-set-a-record.html

In 1991 yet another reminder of how cool the planet used to be:

The Goddard group found that the record average surface temperature for the globe was eight-tenths of a degree Fahrenheit above the 1951-1980 average of 59 degrees. The British group found it seventh-tenths of a degree higher than the 1951-80 average.

http://www.nytimes.com/1991/01...-s-warmest-year.html

In January of this year:

How 2016 Became Earth’s Hottest Year on Record

The Times noted the disturbing news that “2016 was the first time that the hottest year on record occurred three times in a row.” And things could be about to get much worse. “We expect records to continue to be broken as global warming proceeds,” climate enthusiast Michael Mann told the Time.

https://www.nytimes.com/intera...-record.html?mcubz=0

You think we could ever return to the days of 59 degrees?

National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration was reporting the third consecutive year of record highs, it noted that the average global temperature in 2016 had surged to a sizzling... 58.69 degrees.

When not a single prognostication they've made has come to fruition how thoroughly does one have to be indoctrinated to still have faith in the HOAX?????

Here ya go Bill. I think this is the one that will convince LL of the truth. Butt weight, maybe I better delete it, acceptance of the facts would shatter his belief system, his faith in the supernatural. I don't want to be the one that tied the knot in the rope. Oh well, the truth is what's important.

Well I will just cut to the chase here and point out that you are trying to comparing apples and oranges.

From the first to the last of your citations they jump all over the place as far as standard baselines go as well as what they are measuring. The first uses a very short baseline interval and provides an output for standard surface air temperature only. The last while it uses a much longer base line interval also includes both air and water surface temperatures, i.e. apples and oranges.

“The average temperature across global land and ocean surfaces in 2016 was 58.69 degrees F or 1.69 degrees F above the 20th century average.”
Do scientists agree on climate change?

From NASA faq’s on climate change:

“Yes, the vast majority of actively publishing climate scientists – 97 percent – agree that humans are causing global warming and climate change. Most of the leading science organizations around the world have issued public statements expressing this, including international and U.S. science academies, the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change and a whole host of reputable scientific bodies around the world). The number of peer-reviewed scientific papers that reject the consensus on human-caused global warming is a vanishingly small proportion of the published research. The small amount of dissent tends to come from a few vocal scientists who are not experts in the climate field or do not understand the scientific basis of long-term climate processes.”

https://climate.nasa.gov/faq/

Here are a few more papers from sources who are actually qualified to make pronouncements about consensus.

https://climate.nasa.gov/scientific-consensus/

So yes the science is settled, for most people living in the real world.
