Bill is generally ignorant/uninformed (a gibbering idiot most times actually) about most things this included. I’ve explained this for him the last two or three winters running, and he like most around here are still and likely always will be, stuck on stupid.

The ground is generally quite a bit colder than where “standard meteorological” air temps are measured. Big F’in surprise! The surface of his damn pool is frozen and the air temp six feet above it is well above freezing. Generally during winter on a cold clear night surface temps (the ground or the surface of Bill’s pool in this case) are likely anywhere from 2 to 8 degrees colder than Standard air temperatures on still nights. Not to mention that the reporting gauge, he is banging on about, is likely to be miles away and it and his pool are subject to much different conditions, who could have guessed, well obviously very few around here for sure. You people really are damn near clueless.

The HOAXERS claim the low for the 24 hours ending at 5PM yesterday, December 29th, was 38 degrees F.
Amazingly with a low of 38F we had ice in the pool yesterday morning?
No wonder they're claiming all this "warming" hooey!

Another phenomenon keeps occurring this year!
The HOAXERS recorded the low temperature for the 24 hour period ending at 5PM yesterday as 34 degrees F!
Astoundingly yesterday morning we had about 1/4" of ice covering the pool.
The temperature has to drop well below 32 degrees to cool water from about 80 degrees and freeze 1/4" of ice!
We aren't all that far and at the same altitude from where the HOAXERS allegedly record accurate temperature readings!
Ice again this morning though not as thick!
We shall see tomorrow how above freezing temperature did that again????
