The climate change consensus extends beyond climate scientists J S Carlton1,3, Rebecca Perry-Hill1, Matthew Huber2 and Linda S Prokopy1 Published 24 September 2015 • © 2015 IOP Publishing Ltd Environmental Research Letters, Volume 10, Number 9 Abstract The existence of anthropogenic climate change remains a public controversy despite the consensus among climate scientists. The controversy may be fed by the existence of scientists from other disciplines publicly casting doubt on the validity of climate science. The extent to which non-climate scientists are skeptical of climate science has not been studied via direct survey. Here we report on a survey of biophysical scientists across disciplines at universities in the Big 10 Conference. Most respondents (93.6%) believe that mean temperatures have risen and most (91.9%) believe in an anthropogenic contribution to rising temperatures. Respondents strongly believe that climate science is credible (mean credibility score 6.67/7). Those who disagree about climate change disagree over basic facts (e.g., the effects of CO2 on climate) and have different cultural and political values. These results suggest that scientists who are climate change skeptics are outliers and that the majority of scientists surveyed believe in anthropogenic climate change and that climate science is credible and mature. http://iopscience.iop.org/arti...748-9326/10/9/094025 Later Larry Sapere aude! Greenhouse gas benchmark reached Global carbon dioxide concentrations surpass 400 parts per million for the first month since measurements began For the first time since we began tracking carbon dioxide in the global atmosphere, the monthly global average concentration of this greenhouse gas surpassed 400 parts per million in March 2015, according to NOAA’s latest results. Let's see, I've got a million dollars and you just surpassed $400. I don't think your going to be a monetary threat any time soon. Sorry, Al Gore's apocalypse has come and gone (you do remember). You denigrate religion yet you kneel at the alter of global warming. Just another type of superstition, different yet the same.... Pastor Larry. Illegitimi non carborundum | |||

“Let's see, I've got a million dollars and you just surpassed $400.” Sure you have a million dollars; just like and in the same way you believe in the figment of your imagination you call god. Yes CV I do at every opportunity denigrate and ridicule religion, but to be fair it's all religions not just yours, as well as the people like you that believe things for which there is no reproducible and verifiable evidence, particularly those who’s beliefs are based on faith alone. Unlike the case for anthropomorphic climate change for which there is over whelming hard evidence from a multitude of interlinked and mutually supporting un-impeachable sources. Now run along and find your preacher so he can do your thinking for you, as you surely don’t seem to be able to do much on that account for yourself. Then if your preacher doesn’t have the answers to the hard questions, or worse tells you that you shouldn’t even ask the questions, well then just make shyte up just like you did in your response to me and claim your sky fairy fantasy told you it was so. It is you my poor deluded credulous fool who kneels at the altar of faith and has done so by willingly and forcefully shutting the eye of reason. Carbon dioxide: Up to 403.28 ppm (highest levels in the last 650,000 years) Global Temperature: Up 1.4 F since 1880 (9 of 10 of the warmest years on record occurred since 2000) Arctic ice extent: Down 13.4 % per decade (lowest level ever recorded in 2012) Land Ice: Down 287 billion tons per year (Ice loss from Greenland doubled between 1996 and 2005) Sea level: Up 3.4 mm per year (Globally average sea levels have risen nearly 7” in the last century) http://climate.nasa.gov/ Later Larry Sapere aude! Being that Lake Land College is an educational institution could it be possible that the end and ultimate goal is not actually the commercially profitable production of energy in and of itself? Being that the answer to this question is likely well beyond your ability or willingness to grasp Bill I will answer for you. The wind turbine at LLC is a teaching tool in support of training for technicians and technologist or as a basis of further higher education in the area of renewable energy, wind energy in this particular case, which by the way is up and running as I type this, so you appear to be lying again, who could have guessed. The wind turbine at LLC has been up and running since 2011 with the exception of a period at the end of 2015 and the first month of 2016. Take a look at the page below, seems to be running to me. http://mybergey.aprsworld.com/A2719 That the unit produces power or even partially pays for itself is quite beyond the point, it is an educational tool. Technologies like this are here to stay; people need to know how to care for and maintain them and all the ancillary technologies associated there with, not just in this small scale teaching situation but for the actual commercial situations out in the real world. In Illinois there are now about 20 commercial wind farms in operation with a total ultimate output of a bit over 3600 Mega Watts In Kansas alone there are now about 25 commercial wind farms in operation with a total ultimate output of a bit over 3600 Mega Watts and a further 5 under construction with an intimate output of a bit over 1000 Mega Watts. Missouri has 6 in operation Nebraska has 11 and 4 under construction 1 in planning Oklahoma has 27 and 8 under construction plus 4 in planning As well as Wisconsin, Colorado, Minnesota and I am sure other place as well. So your p!ssing on the supposed faults, costs and unsoundness in concept of wind power in general and of a 14kWh teaching wind turbine in specific, is just incredibly stuck on stupid, particularly in light of the fact that there are so many commercially operating wind farms in operation in Kansas alone with more under construction and in planning. You’d think they might need some people to maintain these things wouldn’t you. Now if we could just find a way to harness all the hot air you spew out of both your old puckered ends Bill, like as not we could recover a couple mWh of power from your bloviating alone. Now that really would be the ultimate something from nothing proposition! Now why don’t you just run along and continue trying to convince the local idiot masses that Trump is a slime ball. Frankly how you managed to figure that out is a bit of mystery to me, I guess we have to chalk it up under the adage that even a blind pig finds an acorn now and again. But good for you all the same. This message has been edited. Last edited by: Larry Heath, Later Larry Sapere aude! "Put some jam on the bottom shelf where the little man can reach it." '99 Percent Chance' 2016 Will Be Hottest Year Global temperatures have been hovering around 1.5°C (2.7°F) above pre-industrial averages — a threshold that's being considered by international negotiators as a new goal for limiting warming. While an exceptionally strong El Niño has provided a boost to temperatures in recent months, the primary driver has been the heat that has built up from decades of unabated greenhouse gas emissions. Nearing 1.5°C NOAA announced its temperature data for April on Wednesday, with the month measuring 1.98°F (1.1°C) above the 20th century average of 56.7°F (13.7°C). It was warmer than the previous record-hot April of 2010 by 0.5°F (0.3°C). NASA's data showed the month was about the same amount above the average from 1951-1980. The two agencies use different baselines and process the global temperature data slightly differently, leading to potential differences in the exact temperatures anomalies for each month and year. http://www.livescience.com/548...be-hottest-year.html Oh, I forgot every group and agency on the face of the planet are in on the Global Hoax. http://www.yournewswire.com/te...imate-change-a-hoax/ As the greenies march on! Lake Land college in Illinois put up two turbine windmills expecting to save $44,000.00 annually on electricity! They blew through $250,000.00 on maintenance and repairs very rapidly and another $100,000.00 when lightning struck one of the turbines. They saved a whopping $8,500.00 annually on electricity. The experiment has now been abandoned! Why should we care, WELL the entire boondoggle was funded with a grant with taxpayers money to the tune of $987,697.20!!!!!This message has been edited.
