Cease-fire proposals in wars between Israel and its neighbors are predictable: as soon as Israel is winning, the United Nations demands a cease-fire. As Dore Gold ably documents in his Tower of Babble: How the United Nations Has Fueled Global Chaos, cease-fires typically prevent a decisive end to the conflict. They have often guaranteed further war in the long run by providing a temporary calm that allows Israel's enemies to regroup. Obama's 'Cease-Fire' Offer Is a Betrayal of Israel Fighter jets and rockets continued to fly Friday between Israel and Gaza on the fourth day of the recent crisis that has killed 100 Palestinians and pinned down civilian populations on both sides of the border.. The death toll rose overnight as Israel’s military struck at least 50 targets in Gaza early Friday, killing 11 people in at least three airstrikes, Deaths mount as Israeli jets respond to Gaza rockets Augusta Warrior Project Gpa

I've talked to a couple of police here in southern Nevada in the last several weeks and they're not looking forward to the drunk driving increase when the "pot" law finalizes here! One said they're expecting a minimum 25% increase! Jerry Mock

No doubt that is true for the individual cop(s). I find it hard to believe "the system" isn't looking forward to the increased revenue. After all, it's all geared to catch and punish the individual opposed to prevention. I'm thinking they don't have "pot bars" with parking lots, so that's good. Illegitimi non carborundum

CV the problem here in Nevada is the 24 hour atmosphere. You can do virtually anything you want 24 hours a day including drink in a bar. If I remember right the first part of this year we had a 80% increase in DUI offenses. It was something like 300 DIU's by the end of February. We are the boiling pot, pun intended, for the drivers from all over the country. The traffic coming in from southern California is horrific, especially on the weekend. When I was running my truck, if a customer needed a delivery out of Phoenix or LA on Friday, the rate doubled because I wouldn't run either of those lanes unless it was worth it. Look up the most dangerous roads in America and I-15 is usually in the top 3 if not number one. Jerry Mock

Wow, 80% that's epidemic. I was WAY behind on my thinking on that. At this point I'm thinking the Obama strategy is the best approach. Do nothing! Illegitimi non carborundum

VIENNA: Iran's foreign minister called Tuesday for an extension of a looming deadline to strike a potentially historic nuclear deal with world powers, after surprise talks with U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry. Kerry's unscheduled meeting with Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, capping two days of intense talks in Vienna, came as he was poised to fly home to discuss extending the July 20 deadline with President Barack Obama. WH: We've ‘Substantially Improved the Tranquility of the Global Community’ (CNSNews.com) – White House press secretary Josh Earnest said Monday the Obama administration’s foreign policies in a number of areas have enhanced the world’s “tranquility” – a word that raised eyebrows as reporters pointed to situations in Gaza, Syria, Iraq, Iran, Ukraine and the South China Sea. More than one reporter during Monday’s press briefing referred to a front-page Wall Street Journal article highlighting some of those crises, and citing security strategists as saying “the breadth of global instability now unfolding hasn’t been seen since the late 1970s.” “How does the White House react to the notion that the president is a bystander to all these crises?” asked Fox News’ Ed Henry, citing the widening gaps between the sides in the Iranian nuclear talks, the conflict in and around Gaza, and the Syrian civil war. Israel urged the evacuation on Wednesday of several Gaza Strip areas where more than 100,000 people live, threatening ground operations after briefly holding fire under an Egyptian truce proposal that failed to stop Palestinian rocket salvoes. Authorised by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's security cabinet to escalate an eight-day-old offensive, the military said it had sent out evacuation warnings in northeastern Gaza. "Failure to comply will endanger your lives and the lives of your family," said recorded phone messages received by residents of Shejaia and Zeitoun districts, which sprawl out toward the border with Israel and have more than 100,000 residents. Israel launches ground operation in Gaza Strip The Israeli military launched a ground operation in the Gaza Strip Thursday, the Israel Defense Forces said. The office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced he had instructed the IDF to start a ground operation in Gaza to destroy the underground tunnels that reach into Israel. The army said in a statement late Thursday that after 10 days of Hamas attacks, it had "initiated a ground operation within the Gaza Strip." The army said the objective was to strike a "significant blow to Hamas' terror infrastructure." Augusta Warrior Project Gpa
