spent the weekend upgrading the ignition from a 7AL3 to the Grid. Thanks to Greg Kelly for programming support.

Also got the new pour in seat back. Great job done by JKR Inc. aka Jeff Kundratic.

More upgrades coming. Wink

none. With the current economic status, and the outlook for the future, I am not spending a dime on toys.

Thanks Ed, the pic with the lights on almost looked like they were mounted to side of the car.

Big Steve: Awesome box! Can you share build/material/attachment details? Do you plan on just refilling the generator as needed or tying it into an auxiliary tank? I have wondered about a well vented box that could be used during heavy rain or even going down the road. I couldn't see in the picture if you tie the generator down to the slide.

Thank you. I had an idea in my head and just built it as I went along. Frame is .063 1 inch square tubing. Base is 1/4 aluminum plate bolted to the tongue. Skin is .040 aluminum, same as on a trailer. Bought the prefab doors off Amazon, they are made by RecPro. Drawer slides are rated at 500lbs, also got those off Amazon and I built the tray out of 3/16 steel, a bit heavy but I wanted strong, generator with 5 gallons of gas weighs about 300lbs. I ratchet strap the generator down during transport, just made my 1st road trip last week and it survived, test will be the La roads going to Belle Rose La. at end of this month. Roads in La. SUCK!!. No plans on aux fuel tank at this time. Only time I slide it out is to add fuel, while it is running both front and rear doors are open.

Awesome info. Any trick attaching to the trailer side? When you say bolted to the tongue, did you drill/tap or go all the way through to the other side of the tongue tube? I thought about maybe welding tabs to the tongue. What a great time saver the pre fab doors are! Thanks for the info!!!

I drilled and tapped 6 3/8/16 holes to the top of the tongue rails. Frame has welded tabs that bolt to the aluminum plate. Box has 3 #12 tec screws at the top that attach to the trailer box studs just to hold it tight. Biggest issue I had was after the frame was built I set it on the tongue and discovered the trailer box and tongue were 1.5 inches out of square so I had to get a little creative with the skin and trim, but it came out pretty good.

I can understand that. Maybe building in place, while not as handy, might avoid that? Man I'm lovin that and the way it turned out.

What do you plan to store in the top box? A little shorter and you could fit one of those mini split that seem to be getting popular if you were so inclinded.
