Fti is the spare. Gregg Slack built the one that’s in it now. And Ed that’s how I feel about it also, nothing to lose. Just a little time.

I would double check the primary terminals on the Ignition coil...I have see it twice , both times the terminals were securely fastened to the coil however the wires had broken down just adjacent to the terminal from vibration.. the first time we too replaced everything including the coil but it was the wires to the coil that were the issue, We used a weatherpak connector to quickly disconnect the coil that was mounted to the trans bellhousing, and it wasn't the weatherpak plug..one of the terminals that we never wanted to disconnect from the stud on the coil had broken down causing the interruption to the ignition and the popping and engine miss..
The second time I found it on a similarly mounted coil on a dragster bellhousing...
Easy to check...no cost...

Ed I won’t be ordering no ati. I’ll be surprised if this fixes it, I hope it does but have my doubts. My Slack converter will be repaired if this is my problem

Have you changed anything else since the last test other than when you change the converter? I hope not.

Disconnect the positive wire on the shifter solenoid. Manually shift it. See if it stops. Depending on how your ride is wired, i've seen this occur, whereas the amperage draw breaks down the ignition system.

It does not. The only way it could change an ignition miss, popping or banging is a bad ground.

5 racers with far more experience than you loser, agree it could be the converter especially that the OP has installed new, checked and rechecked, every ignition and fuel component and still has the issue. He owns a spare converter and at this point has no other options.

I still say it is NOT the converter when MOTOR is missing, popping and banging.
1. Change ignition box, quick and easy.
2. Change out to a completely different carb. Quick and easy and will help you narrow it down to real problem.

You go ahead and change out the converter if it makes you happy. It is your tail chase it all you want.
