cometic doesn't think you are and therefore does NOT recommend their head gaskets be reuse after the engine has run just one heat cycle.

So I stand corrected as I previously stated here that "I know Cometic says they can be reused and so did you. I didn't know, you didn't know. I assumed so because I know racers that have. Now we all know the TRUTH and the FACTS.

Your time, your dime.

I have no reason to even say hello to you. When you give me a reason, I will. When other spineless forum punks like you gave me a reason. They got an unexpected greeting from me. When I showed up on the East Coast to race from my duck pond on the West Coast. You haven't even come close to giving me a reason! Wink

We have reused them. Results were mixed. I would say maybe a person can get by with one re-use. But, I think it is a pita to clean them and be sure no dirt or grit is between the layers. I just don't trust it.

Reuse them, just on principle for all the drama BS over this thread, lead by a guy who doesn't even build his own power plant.

Knock the rivets out and clean with warm soapy water. Clean the deck and head spotless of oil residue same as gasket layers. Spray every other side of the layers with copper or hylomar. Torque steps as normal.

This is how you do the ones you have, or new if you go that route.

I'd use the set you have. Plenty of people have, the reason for your inquiry on the matter.

I have a set of 17031 Fel-Pro marine sbc head gaskets on my engine now, re-used. I guarantee Fel-Pro says don't reuse them.

If they look good roll with em, you only live once you can't play it safe always, that ain't living. Plus money isn't gonna be easy to come by looking forward.

Good luck.

neither does the manufacturer, neither does the biggest name race engine builders in the country who's engine power the who's who of bracket and class racing and neither do I but hey our resident felon and cone killer, this forum's biggest liar says reuse them but now our self proclaimed, back yard engine assembler working in his shed next to his double wide, using all the tools of his trade

tells you to knock the rivets out too. Clearly Cometic and FelPro are clueless, having wasted time and money the past 2 decades, riveting these gaskets because mikey says you don't need them.

and Bracket Talk too!

6533 posts and 6500+ are on the Firebird and trailer threads. Self-promoting ass hat. For egotistical reasons, you can never make one post stating your point and leave it alone, you just keep piling the bullshyut higher and deeper. They asked. You answered. Now shut the f&%$ up.

Looking at the pic, your man boobs are getting bigger, you should really think about a bra. And damned sure don't let Joe Biden sneak up behind you while you're waiting in line at DQ.

"CANCEL CULTURE" was invented by YOU and shytbirds just like you. YOU smear and talk trash about everything you don't like or haven't talked to somebody about or read about somewhere on the interweb. There is NO room for differing opinions since you know everything.

Ed's trying to make DRR a kin to Lefty Satanic Yellow Bullet, where you win debates smearing people, rather than making logical points.

Ed if I take the photo, you posted of yourself yesterday and make a meme out of it mentioning your boobs, do I win? Or do I get a Vaca from DRR?

Ed the rivets are for CarCraft magazine greenhorns like you, so you can't F up! Remember yesterday how I mentioned to you, builders assemble performance products on the safe side?

Well, that's for dorks like you.

Hey Ed guess what? No matter how many photo's you photo chop mugshots.com on, in order to pretend it's a mugshot to smear someone because you can't win a debate logically, using reason and evidence.

The Ripper Nova still won the race, as is self evident.

When Cometics first came out the were re-usable. But then they figured out they would sell more if they said they were not re-usable. I personally re-use mine and know people who still re-use them all the time without any issues.

But, go with the manufacturers recommendations though.

Playing it safe all the time and not testing the boundaries, isn't living. Isn't learning either.

When you do everything yourself, you have no one else to blame but yourself. I wouldn't have it any other way.

Out of the box Brodix T 1 heads / AFR, I'll put my sbc up against anyone, don't care who you are 3250 lbs 10 x 28 bias tire.

I'm still trying to figure out how my central heated and air conditioned engine and transmission building facilities got pulled into it.

Ceiling to cover spray foam a friend and I just hung, came out perfect.

Here is a question. Why has everyone gone to MLS? Where the composite gaskets giving you a problem? If you are running boost then I get it but just curious.

Curtis

P.S. as an OEM manufacturer I can tell you that I won't tell someone to re-use something that if they do it wrong will come back on me.

Curtis, shop I was using had them on everything. The other reason is to get them as close as I can to the bore size ( Comp loss) and exact deck custom order. Valve reliefs cut to size..

Felons don't have gun rights Ed. I can promise you, if you come stumbing up my driveway dressed in ANTIFA garb, with your estrogen filled melons swinging threateningly, you'll find out about my rights LoL.
