Monday morning. Weather has been beautiful here the past few days. All I do is work but seems like not much gets done. Got to get some help. Sprayed weed killer for 1/2 a day yesterday. Still got limbs down in front yard. Tried to figure out fuel pump-guage-whatever problem with no success. Part came for 4 wheeler Sat but looks like wrong part so thats on hold. I got a lot of junk race car parts that got to go. They keep piling up. BUT, life is good. Everyone be safe.

It’s an old Honda 350. Us poor people only have old stuff. a Honda will last forever and I don’t need to impress anyone.

Only 65 here today. Getting ready to load up the RV and head for Pigeon Forge, TN Monday and see how Dolly is doing. First time trying since the main road between NC and TN was washed out by the hurricane. Seems like a lot of work to get ready.

At Piedmont last night a new track record was set, 3.600 in the 1/8. Saw one pass where both cars went 3.62 side by side. Pretty impressive....

Life is good

Happy Friday... Managed to get a bit of cleaning up under the back end of the car a couple days ago. Planned on going through the brakes today, but ended up running all over town taking care of stuff and getting irate over traffic. I'm pretty accustomed to the idiocy on our local roads, but today was far worse than it should be. I understand the speed limit is supposed to be the actual "limit", but 10 under pretty much everywhere I went today is aggravating as hell.

Should get a good bit of time to work on the car tomorrow. Gonna rain all day, so I won't have yardwork to get in the way. Haven't talked myself into flushing the brake fluid, but thinking it may be a good idea. Would hate to have a problem at 100+. Experts say it absorbs water over time. Pulling spark plugs to run a borescope inside, check valvetrain, then can prime and fire it up. Only been 20'ish months since I've heard it run. Really looking forward to it.

Hope all is well with you on the Left coast Floyd.

Fern, say hi to Dolly for us. We have our granddaughter on her book mailing list. She's an amazing lady. Was talking to a friend this morning about our last trip to Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg in 2018. Had hoped to do it again this year. Looking like that's gonna be next year instead.

Y'all all have a great weekend.

We got here. 50 mi of single lane road & 25 - 30 mph on I-40..I have never seen such devastation. NEVER! Flooding is no joke. Uneventful trip otherwise. Got hooked up in campground a drivers side won’t go out. Worry about it later. Drive around some last night and a lot has changed. More later.

Happy Tuesday y'all. Fern, glad to hear the trip went well. Hope y'all have a good stay out there.

Got a good bit done over the weekend and getting closer firing up the hot rod. Probably going to do that later this week. Decided I didn't want a shop full of heavy exhaust. I'm putting together an exhaust system to run from the collectors, to exit under the bay doors since the only fan in the shop right now is the HVAC. Educating myself on the crank trigger set up as well. Not 100% sure where the timing is set right now, but think it may be a wee bit advanced. Had the distributor out to prime the pump. Marked everything to make it easy to go together as it was and as best I can tell, timing is way too advanced. Before I start moving anything around, gonna re-read the literature I have for it and maybe ask for some tech help from folks who know more than me.

Got a good race happening this weekend at CPD. Regular bracket program, heads up classes, index classes, and Classic Gear Jammers race. Gonna be busy there. I'll be there watching Saturday.

Y'all have a great week.

Good morning DRR,

It's always nice walking out back of our house in rural NV. but especially beautiful when we have our 1st measurable snowfall on Mt. Charleston. We are blessed to have that view from out back!

Got everything loaded in the trailer for racing this weekend & will hook up in the morning for the trip into the track tomorrow.

Hope all is well with everyone!

Brian, good luck and hope you bring home the bacon this weekend.

Fern, I sent ya a message. I may have figured out my mistake. I guess not really a mistake, more like confusion. Overthinking it and thought I had something way outta whack. Looks more like one small adjustment and I should be ok. Will find out soon when I have more time for it.

Looks like we have a lot going on in SE NC this weekend. Big race at CPD, NHRA running divisional at Rockingham and GALOT has a big money door car race. I'll already be in Jacksonville Saturday, so it's CPD for me. Y'all have a great weekend.

William I never got your message. Anyway our trip went downhill pretty quick. Wend night Mama got sick and it was down hill from there as I decided to come home yesterday. Mama didn’t like the part of the trip though the hurricane damaged 50 miles of road so I went around. 5 hour trip increased to 8 hours of mostly bumper to bumper traffic. She seems okay this morning other than low blood pressure. Anyway we are home and well. More later.

Lucky to be alive Floyd. She seems to be much better this morning. More like a panic attack it seems to me. Going from 10 cars a day out here in the country to that 50mi one lane to bumper to bumper confusion in Pigeon Forge got the best of her and the ride back wasn't much better. But so far this morning she seems to be doing fine. Even told me I could go racing. But since I wasn't going to be here I am not prepared. William I got your message and tried to reply. You can get set up on here, makes it easy. Anyway got Smart car inspected and getting ready to take trash and recycles. Later

Happy Sunday evening y'all. Floyd, hope things are still going well out west.

Brian, Hope your race weekend is getting you win lights.

Fern, hate to hear y'all cut the trip short. My wife had panic attack issues for a while several years ago. Turned out to be a heart condition. Not lethal as I gather it, but caused severe anxiety and her heart rate would skyrocket. Don't remember the name of the condition, but it's essentially an extra active nerve that would kinda short circuit and send her heart into fast fwd, Did an ablation procedure about 10-12 years ago and she's been fine since.

Went to CPD and saw some serious fast hotrods yesterday. Unfortunately a real nice 55 Chevy Stick car in the Gear Jammers race broke all wheel studs on drivers rear at launch and chopped down the tree. Damaged the wiring enough that it took about 3 hours to fix with a replacement tree. Still got the race in though. Busted up the car pretty bad too.

Great news at home. Figured out my mistake on the hotrod. Kinda embarrassed to say, but I put the distributor in 180* wrong. Seems that most of my mistakes in life are of the easy/obvious kind like that. All the reference marks I made and I still goofed it up. Car sounds as good as it did 21 months ago. I put together an exhaust to slip over the collectors and run under the bay door. Kept it nice and quiet inside. Not gonna rush things, but there's a chance I might get to race before the end of this year.

Y'all have a great week

Fern,

Glad here your wife seems to be doing better. You must be in her good graces; she told you to go racing. Big Grin

Well shyt went down hill quick. Mama started feeling worse so I took her to the ER and they promptly admitted her to the hospital. Viral infection in kidneys etc. Got released Sunday and back to primary Dr yesterday and the list goes on. She seems okay today considering. Racing once more on the back burner. Congrats on your racing success at the Strip. Getting old sucks and she is 10 years younger than me. Thanks for all you Gus encouragement. Later
