Yes, if the second car took too long, they would start the clock on them. This was before autostart. It was a flawed system though. Some door cars would start their burnout before a dragster to get them timed out.

When money is involved, some racers will do anything to gain an advantage. They don't believe in fair play, courtesy staging, letting the deep stager get in first, waiting for the other driver if he has a problem, etc. They race like a-holes, all for the almighty dollar.

Some people have no Morals and money has nothing to do with it. This thread right here tells you some do not care and justify his behavior by blaming other guy. Some have said anything goes as long as you win. I can tell you this if it was me I would have dealt with it MUCH stronger.

He could have got someone killed. Then would you guys still be standing up for him?

"Dunning-Kruger Effect"
-a type of Cognitive bias where people with little expertise or ability assume they have superior expertise or ability. This overestimation occurs as a result of the fact that they do not have enough knowledge to know they don't have enough knowledge.

Before you argue with someone ask yourself, "Is this person mentally mature enough to grasp the concept of a different perspective?" If not there is no point to argue.

I get provoked every day but I don't try to injure them for it. I get provoked every day when I drive in PA but I don't tire or wheel rub them on the interstate. Provoked is part of what today is, if it bothers you then you need to look inside. I hate the games but as long as you don't play them and just race you have just as good a shot as they do. The first time you let it bother you they are already in your head. Now, ripping the throttle after the finish line is disrespectful and I wouldn't do it. But if you do it to me I may ride over to your pits and ask you not to do it again. But I am not wrecking my stuff or anyone elses because of it.

Know, I think Hunter has learned a valuable lesson. I think everyone on here has. I have known Hunter for a long time and consider him a friend. This was absolutely Bush League at best and I am glad he got punished for it as he should have.

Now lets move on.

I do not understand the "provoked" comment. Do whatever you want in your lane, I could care less. I also do not understand making the almost victim the criminal. Then again I am old and do not suscribe to modern society. I am entirely responsible for my own actions.

I have raced people who start whomping after 330 and have never felt offended. More so when my win light goes on. People have done stuff stagong and I just do my thing. I just do not care. I screw up enough on my own to give credit or blame to my opponent.

Hopefully the young man learned lesson and moves on. When my offspring wrecked my new truck I told him it may not seem like it now, but life goes on. Your lesson only cost money and you can replace with time. There was nobody hurt which cannot be replaced. My buddy still driving that truck.

Provoked or not does not matter, you try to run over someone with a 2000 Lbs car at 150 MPH someone could get killed or cost one or both of them thousands of dollars to replace a car. And a LIFE can not be replaced.

I will say this if you think it is okay to run over someone in response to someone "Whomping" the throttle.

Then it would be okay to shoot someone in response to wrecking them. You are saying it is okay to retaliate and escalate it.

Or you could think like a normal human being and realize that Whomping the throttle is nothing. No reason to try to run over and kill someone.

Also I think if you did run over someone on purpose I think you should be banned for life from ANY track and Sanctioning body. Period. No exceptions or excuses.
Obviously some do not agree with me but your lack of interest in punishing him makes me realize that sooner or later it will happen again and someone could get seriously hurt or killed. Either from a wreck or retaliation to running him over.
I do not want to have to ever say I told you so at someones funeral. This should be put a stop to in the strongest terms so it never happens again.

Now I'm confused. Are people soft because whomping makes them mad or because it doesn't make them mad? Lots of different ideas of soft on here. Are you soft if you don't beat someone up over it? Soft because it makes you mad? Didn't think of that Am I supposed to meet someone on the return road or ignore it? Some of this doesn't make sense. Laughing Hard
