Amalie and Terry McMillan racing have mutually agreed to split. Apparently Amalie is struggling from loss of business due to Corona and of course.

Also I think as we discussed in another thread the Sponsor paid for 24 race schedule and is getting 11 with much less spectators.

"Dunning-Kruger Effect"
-a type of Cognitive bias where people with little expertise or ability assume they have superior expertise or ability. This overestimation occurs as a result of the fact that they do not have enough knowledge to know they don't have enough knowledge.

Before you argue with someone ask yourself, "Is this person mentally mature enough to grasp the concept of a different perspective?" If not there is no point to argue.

This pinpoints the problems facing Big Oil. A forecast for the new normal resulting in drivers driving a half a trillion miles less yearly.

I'm on the approach to Clearwater and Tampa International Airports a mile from the Madeira Beach Causeway on the coast, I haven't heard a airliner over the house in days.

Things aren't looking good for Big Oil.

For whatever reason, I always thought he owned Amalie...Sucks for him and the sport. Hope he's able to find something to keep him going.

Hope this is not the beginning of a cascade of sponsors pulling the plug on drag racing.

Terry won the 2018 US Nationals, that's a pretty decent Top Fuel list to make.

No he didn’t and he has only 2 wins in 19 years with Amalie paying the bills. That’s why they are not renewing their sponsorship.

Pretty simple people, The Sponsors contracted for 24 races and expected the stands to be full and good TV scheduling. Even at that Sponsorship is not a real good advertising investment.

Now cut that to 10 or 11 races with 25% of the stands full and who knows on the TV schedule? The VALUE of the sponsorship is WAY less than it was before. Now pull out a few of the big names and it just got worse.

Think about it, say you bought Box seats season tickets for your favorite Football team and they were supposed to have 14 games and you paid $30,000 for them. Now they decide they are only going to play 4 you want some of your money back? Absolutely. Businesses expect to get their moneys worth or they will find better investments.

That makes me think many teams will have similar problems or renegotiate their contracts.

Also brings up another point that maybe they should do something to reduce cost of running those things. All race teams, All businesses and all of us have to live on a budget. Some are more than others but still have a budget. We all want to get most for our money.

McMillian lost his sponsor because they were not making same profits as they were prior to the Corona Bull and had to cut costs. Period. Simple. It is all about money. I think Amalie was happy with him and left door open to return if it economy turns around.

I always wondered why companies like Amalie didn't abandon their Top Fuel sponsorship and put their efforts into Sportsman racing.I believe they could get more bang for the buck.
While he has won in Top Fuel on the National level,he wasn't exactly a "household name".
