Without knowing what the stimulus package will do to the economy you can't possibly say the deficit has been quadrupled overnight when 1) It hasn't 2) The stimulus package will hopefully start pumping more money into the economy therefore decreasing the deficit.

Now back to the question. Do you know how much of it has been spent?

There's no exaggeration or drama in what I asked!! It was an honest question trying to discern whether you think they won't spend what has already been allotted in the "stimulus" and budget... both of which have already been passed by Congress and signed by President Obama.

To answer you question... I know they've spent at about 2/3 of the stimulus money according to reports, with the rest to be spent over the next year and a half. As for the budget, I would hope you realize that it's not spent all in one chunk! And no Congress has ever spent less than what was passed in the budget to my knowledge. So where does that leave us?

Yes, I do think they will spend that money. I mentioned that in my last post. And yes I know it will not all be spent in one chunk, that was the point I was making. All I hear from people is we're x amount of trillions in debt because of the stimulus package when actually, no, we're not. Since you seem to think that 2/3 has been spent already then I can see where you would think your statement is not an exaggeration. And that makes sense. But in reality, according to most reports (and yes I even heard it on FOX) only 6% of the stimulus package has been spent so far. People don't seem to realize that when they start screaming 4 times the debt compared to Bush because most of it has not been spent. Like I have mentioned several times, I don't think anybody should have gotten a dime, the banks, the car companies, even us. The more you spend, the worse it gets. And this applies to both presidents. But we can't change that now so until anybody sees what kind of affect the stimulus package actually has on the economy, I don't see how anybody can criticize a fourfold size debt over Bush when it does not even exist yet.

Amidst much fanfare the illegal alien signs the cobbled together credit card reform bill, just one more instance where there will be numerous detrimental unforeseen consquences!!!!!!!!!!!

I got my mothers $250 stimulant check,you get yours? I am sending it in to help reduce deficit for nursing home she is in ($4,000).

They are raising the price $100/month too. I cannot complain, they take very good care of her.
