1. adjust throttle pedal stop (or lengthen throttle rod) to close carburetor throttle blades to 50-70% roughly
2. under carb throttle stop, various options on opening/closing, but to keep it simple just fixing it at the same blade opening as you would with carb blades
3. adjustable restrictor plate style?
4. another method?

This is in a 5.40ish door car, 565BBC application. Standard powerglide etc.

Without a doubt the best way to slow the car down is to have Mike Rietow try to make it go faster!

It's harder than I thought it would be to slow one down. I can kill .400 just by running high gear only but I'm a footfeeder.

How much can you slow it with just a restrictor plate setup?

Sorry, I have never tried with just the restrictor plate. I did use a plate and shift at .100 and hang 20lbs on the front to run 6.0 index. That's the least I have ever tried to kill. I believe I had a 1.200" hole plate in it then. That was May of 2021 2300'-3600' of air. It slowed to 5.95 and I raced it there.

I know some on here have used just the plates. I believe Ed used to slow his .500 just using plates so he was above 10.00 but not positive on that.

I used a mechanically adjustable restricter plate, to slow to 9.0x in the 1/4, the class ET cutoff.

Every tom, dyck and Harry with plastic windows, tin floors and steamroller tires run 5.5999, same as you.

You can't find a single all steel, factory condition muscle car on this board or anywhere on this planet that'll run with my mph n/a 23 degree sbc at 3200 lbs.

Fact.

Libtards such as you invert reality.

This is some home made shyt I threw together under an oak tree in my backyard, when I was bored with nothing better to do. Engine, transmission, ring and pinion. You can't outrun it and nobody you know of can either 3200lbs. Smile

That car is a 10.0 dud Retard.

To find a sb that'll run with my Nova around the same weight, I look at the COPO Camaro's with the big cubic inch LS sb's.

They can't even run with my Nova, really. I'd rip it on a COPO Camaro off a .370 or .400 Pro Tree heads up.

Mike....my 23* motor in a 3200lb car would curb stomp your aftermarket stuff.
122mph at 2700lbs do the math!

I was thinking you had a setup like that Ed.
I'd like to slow from 5.50s so I could run some 5.90 stuff.

That's high gear only 23 sbc world record mph at 3200 lbs sport. You ain't got neighborhood record mph amongst every other tom, dyck and harry with plastic windows, tin floors and steamroller tires in your neighborhood, that run the same 5.5999 et's as your cat turd. Smile
