Anyone using Callies Compstar Rod. Broke an Oliver and couple engine builders have suggested these.

Oliver was a good rod moons ago, now I won't use them in my lawnmower. What's the combo? Comstar is their cheaper line, Ultra's are very good.

Top, I thought the new Oliver rod was supposed to have fixed their problems? I think the Boostline rods are Chinese but remember hearing good things about them. Also thought some people reported problems with the Callies Ultras? I’m curious because I’ll probably be replacing mine for next season. Clowns to the left of me, Jokers to the right. compstar, eagle, scat, manley, molnar are ALL chinese garbage! NO professional engine builder or racer install any of these rods in a race engine because they are better than a rod made in the USA like Callies Ultra.

The Compstar rods are rated at 900 Hp and I have been told much over that they WILL fail. Most all BBC you are at the limits from the start with those rods and living on borrowed time. The Callies Ultra I -beam has a 1500 Hp rating and says it is made in America. I guess their lower lines are made in China? You can get the Compstar for $850 and the Callies Ultra for $2500. I think the Boostline may be worth considering. They are reasonably priced and rated for 2000 Hp. They are made in China and sold by Wiesco and priced in between the Comstar and the Ultra, Crower etc. Crower billet has worked really well for me but they are around $2400. What ever you decide I would not run the Compstar, I think that is looking for failure. From there how much you want to step up is up to you and your budget. I do think Crank and rods get good ones and you will not regret it. https://postimg.cc/gallery/np3zpruo/ "Dunning-Kruger Effect" -a type of Cognitive bias where people with little expertise or ability assume they have superior expertise or ability. Oliver has an issue with their rods for a while now. Years ago they were the ones to have, no more. Callies is not one of favorite rods to go to but Molnar is my #1 pic unless you want to spend big $$$, Carillo is the way to go. I have a set being made right now at $565 per rod. Aftermarket Rods I've used in engines I've built for myself and others Eagle Manley Crower Callies Scat Oliver A Crower Sportsman small block rod is the only one that supposedly broke but that was not something I saw first hand myself A Crower SB rod broke a bolt...That was due to improper torque....A Long story but it was my fault.... The Olivers in an Injected 555 lasted for years and at least one rebuild and eventually went to someone else.... That was back when they were considered top of the line I had zero problems with Manley's in my own engine

For the money Carillo Bullet rods then Callie’s Ultras or crower’s IMO Oliver’s NOPE Btw rating a rod for HP is not really the best way, rpm has just as much to do with picking a rod!

Oliver hasn’t been a good rod for at least 10 years, probably longer. There has been much talk on the forums about this company, changing ownership and having gone done hill.

Here’s some info from Summit on the Compstar 6.385. It’s rated 850hp @7500. Compstar 6.385 I use Compstar rods rated 700hp @ 7500 in my sbc. My engine was 697 hp on a dyno (probably less realistically) and the High rpm chip is set to 7400.

Suprodn you are in a tough location. You need to get out of there man. LOL I have Ultra H in the engine I have on the stand. Callies makes some nice stuff. I have a really good friend with Ultra I Beams in a procharged engine. It's a baby motor also though. ____________________________ 2017 and 2018 Osage Casinos Tulsa Raceway Park No-Box Champion 2018 Div4 Goodguys Hammer award winner
