I decided to make a rear gear change for testing on Sat. All testing so far has been done with our 1/4 gearing, 1.94 final ratio. Seeing we shouldn't have any wheel speed at the track, I'm going to start with a 2.06 final ratio. We'll see how it goes! 2BKING ![]() 1980 Camaro Taking the Best Working Small Tire Shyt Box & making it Greater Than Before! 3100 lbs. Pump Gas 436

Ultra slow motion is what helped me the most on the GTO. V500 has every sensor but the camera is priceless!!! California Screaming! Raceless in California!

It was a pretty good day of testing with the quad this past Sat. We were .2 slower on the ET than I was hoping for a baseline. The clutch was a little loose & showed in the 60', but I'm sure the street can't take much more. We are going to test at the track probably in Feb. or Mar. & add some base pressure for track testing; we should be able to get into the 1.30 range at the track. We started with our 1/4-mile final gear ratio of 1.94 when testing in Mexico. Sat., we started with a 2.06 ratio & it was a bit too much rpm. The next testing will be done with a 2.0 ratio & should put us in the sweet spot for rpm thru the 1/8th. We couldn't get a good plug chop the way the track was set-up today, but I'm pretty sure we are still fat. We did lean out one power jet on one of the cylinders. It was running fatter than the other. 2BKING ![]() 1980 Camaro Taking the Best Working Small Tire Shyt Box & making it Greater Than Before! 3100 lbs. Pump Gas 436

Change of plans with the drag quad. The Kingman Street Drags are cancelled for this year! We are going back 1/4-mile racing with the quad. We are racing it this weekend for 2 points races. I changed the final gear ratio to a 1.84, something we have never used before. Hopefully we can get it off the starting line without bogging! It should run in the low to mid 10 second range, not that it really matters for bracket racing. It has been 9.7-9.8 with my lighter son on it. 2BKING ![]() 1980 Camaro Taking the Best Working Small Tire Shyt Box & making it Greater Than Before! 3100 lbs. Pump Gas 436

The 1.84 final gear ratio didn't work, it was bog city! My tuning gave us a 1st round loss on Sat. We changed back to a known final ratio of 1.94 & went to the semi-finals on Sun. It did manage to run high 10.40s @ 119 mph with my 290 lb. 6'3" son, brick wall on it! 2BKING ![]() 1980 Camaro Taking the Best Working Small Tire Shyt Box & making it Greater Than Before! 3100 lbs. I've been working on the Something Different project lately. Throwing some more money at the quad with a billet transmission & a few other things. This thing has been collecting dust since Mar. of 2024. We our bringing it back out in Jan. 2026 for testing & 1/4-mile bracket racing. The main issue we were having last Mar. was the bike jumping into gear from neutral at idle. This new transmission should solve that problem with a neutral down, 1-4 override, manual 5 & 6 gear using a shift kill transmission. My son has lost 40 lbs. since last racing it but he's still a 6'3" sail when riding the quad. Hopefully we can do better than the semi-finals last time out. My son has won a good many races on this thing & I was no slouch also. 2BKING ![]() 1980 Camaro Taking the Best Working Small Tire Shyt Box & making it Greater Than Before! 3100 lbs. I've been thinking about building a bigger engine for it; something around 800cc with more stroke & a bigger bore. I guess a few are running 4.5s in the 1/8th around 145 mph now. They're nothing but titanium rails with 100 lb. crack heads or less riding them. The only resemblance to a quad is 4 wheels & handlebars. 2BKING ![]() 1980 Camaro Taking the Best Working Small Tire Shyt Box & making it Greater Than Before! 3100 lbs. Pump Gas 436

We received our new transmission this past Fri. I spent a good chunk today bench testing the trans & trouble shooting issues. This is a 6-speed trans & has the neutral all the way down, but it wouldn't go into neutral. The problem was with the machining of the shift drum; it was a quick fix with minimal machining. We also found another issue of the aft 2 shift forks getting into a bind with the shift drum on the transition from 3rd to 4th gear. I installed two massaged used shift forks & it fixed the issue. Tomorrow, I have to massage two new shift forks. Then I have to start over bench testing tomorrow. Hopefully I'm able to glue the cases together tomorrow. I plan to install the engine Mon. 2BKING ![]() 1980 Camaro Taking the Best Working Small Tire Shyt Box & making it Greater Than Before! 3100 lbs. Pump Gas 436

I quickly got reminded yesterday what a pain in the azz this quad was/is! The bench testing yesterday led to more machining/massaging transmission related parts, but I was able to join/glue the two case halves together. Still hoping to install the engine today! In case you don't know we use a neutral down override 1-4, manual 5 & 6 gear transmission. It's hard to bench test these things & I'll do some things differently, if I do it again. I'm not totally happy with the bench testing I did, but I think I've fixed the issues. I was hoping not to test this trans at home but going to have to; that creates its own issues. My family will be on vacation when I need to test. The quad has a remote starter & we have no idle circuits in the carbs. I think I have a plan to get it done myself, if I can't find reliable help. The Something Different Project is something else, that's my little rant. 2BKING ![]() 1980 Camaro Taking the Best Working Small Tire Shyt Box & making it Greater Than Before! 3100 lbs.
