I installed the Hughes pan yesterday, really "skippy" piece. The total, including the freight it came to $243.80 and worth every penny.

The drain plug is recessed so jacking the trans up from the bottom will be a piece of cake. The plate I adapted to the floor jack covers the entire length and width of the pan. At my age smart beats strength, I'm tired of wrestlin' them out by hand.

Good deal, glad you are happy with it.. I had a long conversation with Kevin Klieneweber today about Hughes sponsoring the #1 qualifier award in Comp, TD, TS, Stock and SS in D4 plus various transmission and converter options, we also talked about the pan too.
Good guy to have in your corner

Farpac gasket included? Be alright if you could post a photo of everything included.

I'm sure everyone would like to see it. I would.

Unfortunately there are two problems Mike;

The first is that the gasket they included with the pan was installed and secondly I have no idea how to send a picture. Best guess is that kit would have included a gasket that would seal their pan.

My computer skills end at the on/off button, and sometimes I have issues with that process.

I'm sure of that as well. I'm curious about the gasket in regards to modular structural stability, as I mentioned previously a cast pan is really the way to go, for the reason a cast pan adds rigidity to the entire unit.

Put a cork gasket on it, it'll take away from rigidity. Get it now?

So what gasket came with the pan, can you say?

now we've got mikey questioning the "modular structural stability" of the gasket Didn't think of that JFC!

All I know is that both the cast aluminum finned pans on my two transmissions don't leak with Fel Pro's #2304 gasket.

Not cork. Material undetermined. Perhaps a call to Hughes might reveal the gasket material. My phone bill is high while my curiosity is low. It sealed.

Just putting this out as a possible solution, uses a Oring to seal to the case.

I do not know what type gasket comes with it. Appears to be some sort of paper with rubber or something in it. Pretty nice but I did not use it one mine. I had one of those blue reusable Felpro gaskets and used it and kept one that came with it as spare.
For the pan it is really nice. My car was built in 2013 for NHRA Comp Eliminator with Blown BBC and ran for one year. They put the motor location far forward and down low. The motor was a dry sump and they wanted it low. That made it a pain to load in trailer because trans pan and midplate was so low. I fixed the Midplate and changed to the Hughes tapered pan and man it is so much nicer. It is always nice to have that extra few inches. It also has a thick part cast into it where I put the transmission temp sensor for data logger and did not have to weld anything. Nice.
It did not "Have" to have the pan to clear but it sure makes it easier and more convenient to load. I like to make my operation as easy and painless as possible. At the end of a long hot day make it easy on yourself. Plus Hughes makes the best quality stuff and they have taken good care of me. Good prices and I talked to Stephen Hughes there we discussed what I wanted on the Stall and they hit it exactly first time! Not take it out and send it back three times, they hit it perfect first time. They are the best I have dealt with and will continue to support them.
My new motor is an alcohol injected, 18* head, aluminum dry sump SBC. So it should work well in this car.

-a type of Cognitive bias where people with little expertise or ability assume they have superior expertise or ability. This overestimation occurs as a result of the fact that they do not have enough knowledge to know they don't have enough knowledge.

Before you argue with someone ask yourself, "Is this person mentally mature enough to grasp the concept of a different perspective?" If not there is no point to argue.

Thats the one I use, none better. I put a very light coat of white grease on both sides that way when I take the pan off the gasket dont stick and I use it over and over again and never leaks

I stopped by Auto Zone this morning and looked at a Fel Pro 2304 pan gasket, it looks the same as the gasket that came with the Hughes pan.

Global Transmission Parts in Ohio is where I got FarPak gaskets. 4 bucks a piece. Bought 5. Cant beat them and they are the best sealing material I have used on pan gaskets. I have one of those Moroso rubber metal gaskets hanging on my wall and it will probably remain there unless someone is in need of one in a pinch. FarPak material works great.

Good to know, good price. We used to have a Dacco in town we could buy anything transmission related, any transmission. It's a bit more complicated now, than one stop at Dacco.

SMH, still can't believe they went out of biz. That place had everything, and in stock, no BS. Killer prices on everything.

Transmission Specialties straightcuts, converters, input shafts, pumps, bands, drums, hubs, grease, seals, oil, gaskets any transmission you can think of, in stock.

I don’t know what the gasket was called that was on my pan but I had to pry the pan off of it and won’t use one of those again. Cork is all I will use.

I am surprised that sealing a cast trans pan seems to be such a problem. I’ve never had one leak.
