Great kit for the money if you don't want a custom bent cage !!! I've used both first and second gen kits from them and they fit great and you can have them bend up the rest for an 8.50 cert that will go through the dash and not in front of it.

Why would anyone suggest a 7.50 cert cage in mild steel, whats the reasoning of that ????

Nhra tech guy told me 8.50 cert is good to 155mph 1/4 or 1/8. Which kind of surprised me to be honest.

Chromoly for re-sale is the way to go.

I'm not sure it is any safer in a crash.

NASCAR chassis are unique in racing circles. The cars have a minimum weight of 1542 kg (3400 lb), quite heavy by race car standards. NASCAR requires the frame and roll cage components be fabricated from mild steel. This allows the car to absorb the forces of a crash in a bend-before-break mode.

Nascar still requires mild steel chassis for their 200+ mph cars.

I'm not set on Mild Steel, was set on Chromoly as said in another thread previously. Then started considering mild steel because of my budget below.

I pay cash for everything, but a mortgage/one vehicle payment & put down good amounts of $$$ on them.

The 50K is for the 1st para. in the above quote. If I can get all the car upgrades done for 10K including Chromoly cage, it will be done. Because 40K will probably be used on the new trailer.

As for the engine/drive train reconfiguration for the Procharger set-up. That cash is not saved, but all work/parts will be paid for in cash.

I will start out with something nice, Good Morning ED!

Never implied our stated anything about a 7 second time slip! The plan is to run low boost for high 8 sec. runs. I see no issues with having more safety margin with a 7.50 cert. be it chromoly or mild steel.

I have been well into the 7's many times with a different race vehicle. I'm pretty sure I know what it takes to manage a quick ride. Wink

Have a nice day ED!

BlahBlah

Must be true, because you claim to have, on an internet message board. Of course you won't post a time slip with one of your "many" 7 second 1/4 mile passes on it with your competition number nor will you post your NHRA License with your name on it and coded 6A, 6B and/or 3A.

Time slip with your competition # on it, matching the 7944 on the window and your NHRA license with the same # 7944 with your name and coded 6B or it's just another baseless bullshyt internet message board claim!

Don't have to prove nothing & especially to you!

I raced it from 2004-2006, didn't keep my S/C licence updated. Just recently got re-licenced with a different # & class, but that not true because it's not posted.

My name is on the door along with the truck owner. That's me in the pic with the trophy.

My home track competitors are on DRR also, they could raise the BS flag if it wasn't true. Wink

Why because you say so? I jumped in a Ray Miller 4 link dragster in 04 wearing flip flops, pajama fire jacket and pajama pants went 4.63 and coasted 7 second 1/4.

I've never had a licence. You need a license to tell you you're capable of drag racing?

I never needed anyone to tell me I was capable.

I know that truck and its current owner Smile and I own a home in Vegas and have seen the truck run many times over the years. Also seen Mr King's Camaro run plenty as well. Have no reason to doubt anything he says and can verify his claims for what that's worth.

As for the question at hand I say do what you feel you can comfortably afford. I have done both and not had any issues with either, performance wise or resale wise. I sold my last car that was MS for a fairly good chunk of change and the new owner is perfectly happy with it as was I
