I always thought a collapsible shaft of some sort would be safer.....Kinda hard to stuff a digger straight into the wall I guess... . Dave F J B | ||

First not hard. I had 275" sideways whule no 90* to wall damnm close. My guess is almost impossible to fo;d up chassis w/o fold steering shaft and noit driving it back. Nothing says you can not have support or brace to eliminate possiblity for ti to be driven towards driver, America home of free. Brought to you by 2nd amendment. | |||

1: There is a rule, I think to have a stop to keep the shaft from ramming the driver. At the least every RED I have had has had this stop. 2: If one was concerned a 2 piece or more shaft with grade 5 or aluminum pins would do the trick. I built my own dragster and I built the steering shaft with two u joints it it one to raise the column height but also so it has the ability to collapse and fold upon it self | |||

See one advantage to a FED. if drag link dose noit ram you in the, well get idea.LOL On the hydraulic deal, More weight,one more thning to leak and.or break. And it would require a nhra approved diaper at both ends.  Only thing potentially worse would be remote steering. Drive by wire on modern cars still gives me pause. No way I would trust electronic control of steering. Will not buy newer harley becuse drive by wire throttle crap, I want a cable to open it and springs slamming it if cable breaks.
