If placing transmission in neutral immediately after run, do you neutral transmission and then turn ignition OFF….or…. Do you turn ignition OFF and then neutral transmission??? What say you?? This is PG transmission.

I put it in neutral as soon as I lift at end of the run. I do not turn the engine off as I want to keep pumping fluid to bearings, bushings, planetaries and I want the hot oil out of the converter. I would rather just have the engine idle vs pulling down against the converter.

Blown Top dragster I killed the engine for obvious reasons. Chutes, neutral, ignition. S10 I leave it running and coast to the end of the track barley touching the brakes, as soon I make the turn and off the track I drop it back in high and idle to the time slip booth

I am good friends with Carl Rossler and when I bought my first glide from him he said DO NOT ever do this with a glide. He said if you do, do not call him when it doesn't last. He said doing so causes the internals to spin excessively fast which can result in catastrophic failure. He has mentioned the same thing to me over the years several times. That and to not shift from 1-2 during burnout. Just start in 2nd gear. He is quite adamant about both. Configuration: 3350#, 582 C.I., 60 - 1.24 1/8 - 5.53@ 126MPH 1/4 - 8.73@ 159MPH 3700#+210lb driver, FULL interior, through mufflers, 10.5 tire. 60'-1.333 (IN 4000ft DA! Joisy Math excluded; 1.25sec using JOISY MATH.) 1/4 - 9.60@144MPH

I stay in high gear and coast down. Generally have to drive off the end of the track. Mark Goulette Owner/Driver of the Livin' The Dream Racing dragster www.livinthedreamracing.com "Speed kills but it's better than going slow!" Authorized Amsoil Retailer
