Struggling with Hoosiers 14.5 wide tires on low 7’s suspended small block car. Have to hit fairly hard with this turbo combo and they either shake or spin.
Great fella is letting me try his big bubba mickeys this morning. He runs them with a lot of air pressure. (9)

I believe 5-6 is going to be the best bet, certainly most common. A true 9 lbs in a dragster is impressive, I guess? I’ve heard some guys running 7 but not any higher.

I would bet the MT tires work much better and like to hear how they work for you.

The larger tire messed up the gear ratio. Wonder if the little would be as forgiving.
Bucky, I ran little bubbas on mine for 3 years. Worked great. When I went to big bubbas it did kill .005 in the 60'. I could probably get it back by raising launch rpm or increase launch timing, but car works well as is. Little bubbas work too..

I have made several passes with big to lil bubba(same day/weekend). lil bubbas are on beadlocks big bubbas are not. I see zero ET difference and minimal RPM difference. Both in the 5.25-6 pressure range. Sometimes a minor rebound change in shock. 4.50s dragster. Have turned the bottle on with both tires as well.

I need to relearn tire Tining with these. I think I want to try the littles. I wish they were a tad shorter. I think I can even loosen up the the extension

Going to try the littles next. Blessed that a friend and fellow racer is willing and able to let me try these.
My only complaint trying the big bubba's was they were so much taller than my Hoosiers that I was using. So it slowed up my program. 60's were just as good and more consistent, but the run overall was a tad slower than the Hoosiers. And I can only assume the tire size, ratio difference, and the weight difference of the tire and going to a beadlock were responsible for it. Worst case for this is I have to change gears to use a tire that actually works for my program.
No bashing from my on Hoosier. I have used them for 20 plus years and they have been great. I just built a combo that simply doesn't work with them seemingly regardless of what I tried. There is little arguing that the M/T's have a bigger tuning window than the Hoosiers with regards to shake. In fairness, the tire size could play a role here. But there are way too many other racers with the same experience in moderately fast bracket cars to ignore.
I'm just happy to not be welding parts back together after a weekend of shaking.

That is it right there. When I ran the Hoosiers It was always breaking off my fuel pump mount, and all of the brackets on the chassis. The other issue with Hoosiers is they were really good with good track temps but if you were too cold or too hot they would go away quickly. That was on my four link altered the MT tires were so much better. They do not work as well on my hard tail front engine dragster.

Were your Hoosiers 15" or 16" rim diameter? Just curious.

Something I got into learning on mine was the way taller tire raised my ride height over an inch which took some bite out of the car and slowed my 60ft. I reset the 4 link and it was better not that I wouldn't go down but was better. I also run 6-6.5 at 4.50's

I can totally believe that. Mine changed more than that. It was an at track change between rounds. And absolutely the ride height changed. Heck I had to be super careful with the nose over bumps. I have plenty of adjustment. I just didn't do it at the track.
It lowered my finish line rpm by about 600 rpm! This message has been edited. Last edited by: Bucky,
