Still a handful of things to do, both car and trailer. A friends been working on his car and we've got a little friendly competition going, on who gets their car out for a pass first. Saw his trailer hooked up Friday evening. Rooting for him to get back on track, just maybe a day after me. LOL... Y'all have a great week.

Friendly competition! Sounds like fun! Not worthy

I'm only 63 years old; I guess that puts me in grade school compared to you being a senior. I just hope that I can race & work on my race car as a senior!

Hope all is well with everyone!

Hope you make it to the track this coming weekend. It has been a long time coming & you deserve it!

Good evening and happy Sunday. Hope everyone's weekend is going well.

Brian, I hope things are going well out there. Your description on your other post paints a comical picture of a race weekend.

Long one here, but a pretty fair summary of my weekend.
I can happily say I made it to the track with my hotrod finally, so I officially beat my buddy back to the track. Can't really claim a true win though since I didn't get to make a pass yet, but hey,,, the car came out of the box and hit the ground at CPD. LOL...

The not-so happily part, we're having what I hope is a minor problem with the valvetrain. Over the past few weeks, upon checking valve lash, everything has seemed ok. Friday morning, #7 exhaust was waaaay loose. While checking, I noticed that lash cap was missing. No clue how I missed it before, but an obvious miss by me. Drove to P&M in J'ville and Andrews guys found me one, (no charge, thanks fellas), get home, installed it and set lash correct. Ran car up & down road and checked again and damm'it that same one loosened up again. Figure I'll go to the track, grab an educated friend to check and make sure I'm not missing something. Now I'm running waaaaay behind on preparation. In my hurry to load the trailer, forgot my generator gas and shop lights, among other things. Get to the track Friday late afternoon to find wet grounds and T-N-T rained out. Cool, plenty of time to dig into it. Unload everything, realize I have no lights and no generator gas and feel like a dummy. Misting outside so have to work on it in the trailer. Decide to wait til early am daylight. Saturday am, dig back in and not finding anything I missed. Off comes the intake to check for a bad lifter. Have Robbie take a look and everything is ok inside. Only other cause, aside from user error seems to be maybe the rocker stud pulling out, but it appears fine as well. Gotta be how I'm adjusting it. Intake gaskets now damaged, black RTV sealant to the rescue. Everything back together, back car out of trailer, gas it up and turn water and fuel on to check for leaks. No bueno. Water leak at the coolant crossover at front of engine. Coming from bolts and upper rail of intake, close to intake runner. Back is killing me from being bent over the engine all day and no correct gaskets on site. Not worth taking a chance and causing myself a bigger headache and expenditure, so packed up and headed home. May have been able to take it apart again and reseal the intake, but with the tears I already RTV repaired, there's no way it would survive another removal. Hopefully I'll get it squared away this week and no new surprises come up.

On a positive note, the CCRA tech guy looked the car over. Once I get the roll bar padding that I know I need but keep overlooking, we should be good as gold to race. While a bit disappointed, I'm not upset over the way my weekend went. Unfortunately I didn't get to even take it down the return road/shutdown to see how it feels full throttle and hitting all 4 gears, but there should be another day before next season begins. KDS has Winterfest every year, so I'll set that as my next shot. CPD should be having some T-N-T on Sundays, weather permitting throughout the next few months as well.

Y'all have a great week.

Guess we need a bump here. Guess you got a hand full of it William. Better luck next time. I was all ready for the freeze to death nationals this weekend and thankfully they cancelled Piedmont, Farmington, and Darlington last night. Supposed to be 23 Sat at the Farm and Piedmont. If I would have known sooner I would be on my way to Montgomery where it might be warm. But Family intervened. Everyone have a good Thanksgiving and be safe on the roads if traveling. Life is good

Good evening and Happy yesterday Thanksgiving y'all. We had a pretty impressive spread yesterday. I cooked one 13 pounder in my Big Easy oilless fryer, another 21 pounder in the smoker. Wife did 13 pound ham in the crock pot. Lots of fixins as well. I shoulda weighed before the feast. Been bloated since 4pm yesterday.

Put some time in with the car yesterday and today. Hopefully intake is sealed up properly now. Need to find my cooling system pressure tester. Think I'll pump it up tomorrow morning to see if it holds pressure before adding water. Pressurize again with water to be a little more sure. Still need to change oil as well. Found water in lifter valley yesterday. Wasn't much, but still worthwhile to be on the safe side. Lets hope I got it right this time and get to fire it back up. If all goes well, start prepping for whenever a local track has good enough weather for a tnt or a race weekend.

Hope everyone's having a great Thanksgiving week/weekend. Stay warm out there..
