BKing ,
I cannot imagine running @ 6000da . I've raced @ 4500 about highest with 100+F , 125+ GOW . Vile and slow .
Diesel today is $2.849/litre
98 unleaded , what I run in Plymouth , $2.649/L
I feel so much better off since someone tried setting fire to the middle east .

The Winnemucca track we ran at was 7,000'-7500' DA. The ProCharger is not affected as bad as an NA combo.

William be safe in your travels!

Sat. is the best day to make it out. We are supposed to be qualifying that day & with the remnants of the hurricane supposed to move in Sun. We are going to push for eliminations on Sat. afternoon.

We're stacking tomorrow morning & parking around noon.

Keep it brief, today was pain stacking & parking. My parking spot had a good amount of oil puddles. Got a bag of kitty litter, took care of the issue. Got registered & tech.

Tomorrow is testing from 1pm - 9pm. We'll see how it goes.

Organized street racing, bunch of crybabies. They want rules to specifically match their car. They darn near had a fight over the shyt at the driver's meeting. You can't make this shyt up!

I need to stick with bracket/index racing.

That cracks me up. I may be wrong, but I think a lot of the drama seen at today’s organized street and no prep races is driven by how some folks see it on the tv shows. Like they think that’s what you’re supposed to do, ***** moan and act tough. Seen it at a few street style races.

Looks like I’m not going to make it out there tomorrow as hoped Brian. Due to the bad weather expected Sunday, the atv desert tour we set up for Sunday has been rescheduled to tomorrow. I’m pretty bummed about it. Wife ain’t gonna let me outta that.

No problem William!

I know what you mean about the drama. Heck with all that shyt!

1st pass was a 6.10 @ 121.50. It spun about 40' out & around 330'. We made changes & go into qualifying next run. They're trying to run as much of the race tonight & finish it tomorrow.

1st qualifying run was a 6.35 @ 121 mph. I made a mistake & loaded the hot tune in the ECU! Don't know what tomorrow brings. Maybe another qualifying pass or straight into elemenations.

They cut shyt short tonight. There was a brawl at the end of the street. Can't make this shyt up!

Qualified #6 out of the top 16 qualifiers. Going into 1st round this morning. My opponent qualified with a 7.08, I should have him covered.

We're taking more power away earlier & bringing more power in up top. Even though they're prepping the street it's tricky!

After 9 years of working to make Kingman's drag racing activities actually work, I gave up.

I did have a fun weekend at the Div 7 ET Finals in Vegas however.

I'm pretty critical on how an event is organized good or bad. I have to take my hat off to the Kingman Street Drags Staff & Volunteers. The event is drastically better organized than the earlier events that I attended in the early 2000 range. My last one attended was 2008. Parking/pitting has always been an issue, but this stretch of road & the surrounding area is greatly improved. It will never be ideal for parking/pitting, it's the nature of the beast.

Another issue has always been class calls to the staging lanes. They do it with text notification & it has vastly improved getting back & forth from the track.

The logistics for this event is terrible, but they have adapted to make it work. There's always room for improvement but don't know if there's much room to do anymore. The insurance is a nightmare of rules to make it happen & they're onsite to make sure they are abided by. I chatted with our track manager of the Strip at Las Vegas & he's attended a couple of the Kingman races. He still can't figure out how they get insurance for the event. I would venture to say anything can be done with the right amount of $$$$$$$$$$!!!

I have some very minor complaints about the event. The VIBE or what made the event great in the early years has been lost. It's still a great event but some of the pizzaz has been lost! I have some thoughts on why but not going to vent my opinion in an open forum. I may or may not take it up with the Kingman staff in private.

Overall, I give the event an A-. Especially to deal with the remnants of Hurricane Rachel that shortened the event by one day. We got 1 test hit Fri. morning & 1 qualifying hit Fri. afternoon/evening. Sat. We had a few classes that got their 1 qualifier hit Sat. morning. Then the elimination rounds followed quickly. Pretty sure Small Tire got their finals completed & the rest of the classes were ready for the finals, but the rain/wind came. They tried to race Mother Nature & she turned on the win light!

I'm anxious to hear how Brian King ended up.

Dan, thanks for taking interest!

This event is outside my wheelhouse, although I've done very well at it in the early 2000's.

I have to give a shout out to my son for making it to the final 4/semis in the motorcycle class. I'm always proud of him & he showed up to represent Vegas.

Now to how I ended up. I took a very good bracket/index car to a heads-up street race. AI & I had worked out a good game plan, but Mother Nature trumped the plan.

1st test pass at 2:05 pm Fri. I got a little more aggressive with the tune for the planned no drama A-B 1st hit without even walking the track. The DA was around 6,500' & around 92*. I did a pretty shyty burnout, but I guess most were having the same issue. Anyway, the target ET for the 1st pass was a 5.9X. We ran a 6.100 @ 121.54 mph with a 1.477 60' & had to do a quick pedal about 30' out & also around 300'. Overall, I was happy with the run.

2nd pass was the one & only qualifying pass. I made changes to the launch retard to pull more power. This run was at 6:56 pm & the DA was 5,900'+. It was an ugly run spinning from the hit to about the 330' with multiple pedals. I thought I ran around a high 6.9X pass. I got the slip & it went 6.359 @ 121.86 mph with a 1.655 60'. While not happy with the pass it was quicker than I thought. I think what I did was I loaded my hottest tune to the ECU by mistake!

1st round of eliminations Sat. 12:35 pm, I had an equipment malfunction after staging. The shifter solenoid decided to release & shift into 2nd gear while staged on the 2-step. That released the transbrake & I was red, pretty embarrassed to say the least.

We diagnosed the issue when I got back to the pit. The solenoid wouldn't lock back into 1st gear about 50% of the time & when it did lock; it only took a light tap of my finger on the solenoid & it would release to 2nd gear. I have a spare solenoid, but I was already eliminated. I'm buying a new one to install.

I forgot to say, I was qualified #6 out of the 16-car field with that shyt qualifying run. The #1 qualifier had a 5.674 an ET I can easily cover under different conditions with my bracket tune. I made a big mistake by adding 6+ lbs. boost to the bracket tune. In hindsight I'll go back with less boost.

We/I had a great time & I was only disappointed with not being able to get into the 5s on the street on a DOT radial!

I will always support the efforts of the staff That makes these events happen. It's a huge amount of work to build a track and tear it down for each race.
How many cars qualified in HR 1?
How many entered?

Nice pic Brian. Sounds like a good time, minus the aggro drama you mentioned. Fix that solenoid and get back to whupping on the competition....
