Evenin y'all. I may be about ready to hit the road tomorrow afternoon for GALOT and the CCRA races this weekend. Pulled tranny Sunday to do a few PM things. Big benefit to this was, made a lot more room for me to get behind the dash to swap out the temp gauge. Took base pressure from 450# to 427#. Don't know how much that may affect things, but we'll find out. When car hooks hard, which is almost every launch, I believe it's pulling my rpm down more than I'd like. Also had a few times losing traction on green, so hoping this helps. If not, I can always go back to 450#, or loosen it up more. Also did a basic clutch inspection and everything appears ok to my untrained eyes. Temp gauge swap went easy, as expected. Didn't get to do a good cleaning on the car yet as I hoped, which I may not get time to do tomorrow. Hoping to get some TNT tomorrow afternoon before the main events Saturday & Sunday. Assuming all goes well this weekend, I may be going to the NHRA D2 National Open in Darlington next week.

In honor of Floyd,,, "Old Guys Rule".

Y'all have a great weekend.

Rubber meets the road & track today. High of 108* today & a little better Sat./Sun. but not much; plus, we start right in the middle of the day. I have lots to test/evaluate in not-so-great conditions. We'll see how it goes, I don't strategize with luck, but hope I find a bunch this weekend!

BTR, good luck this weekend & safe travels!

I usually do better on the 2nd day of racing, we'll see. The heat has been brutal!

Go get'm Brian...

CCRA at GALOT last weekend didn't go so well for us. The good, great relaxing weekend, my happiness being at the dragstrip and lots of cool Stock & Superstock cars. The bad, my performance in 3 races over 2 days. Red is once again my favorite color. Had a whopping 2 green light starts, both in Saturdays 1st race time runs. At least a couple were really close to being green though. Among my other mistakes, 1st time run I held onto the line lock AGAIN, this time for the entire eighth mile. Another, forgetting to plug the battery charger into the generator. Another, 2 very poorly executed burnouts which led to less than stellar 60' times. Another, double bulbed my opponent while staging, thankfully just the dash for cash, but a little embarrassing nonetheless. Another, forgot to put my dial in on the window in 3rd race dash for cash. Another, left my jacket in the trailer before 2nd race 1st round eliminations. Parked car, ran back to trailer and someone was nice enough to give me a ride back in their cart. I sure as hell didn't feel this damm dizzy, but I sure as hell was.

Then more bad,,,, real bad... Hurt the engine on my last pass of the weekend. Went red, car ran it's best ET of the weekend, get back to the trailer and everything seems fine. Fired up to reposition car at the ramp, shut down and heard pfft pfft pfft as the engine went down. Get home, compression test verified my suspicion of a head gasket. Number 5 is at 70# while all others are 170#. No bueno for my plans to race the NHRA D2 National Open this weekend. Gotta plan for getting back together, just gonna take some time. Next few weeks are going to be super busy at home without the addition of race car repairs.

Hope y'all are having better fortune than me out there...
