Evenin y'all. I may be about ready to hit the road tomorrow afternoon for GALOT and the CCRA races this weekend. Pulled tranny Sunday to do a few PM things. Big benefit to this was, made a lot more room for me to get behind the dash to swap out the temp gauge. Took base pressure from 450# to 427#. Don't know how much that may affect things, but we'll find out. When car hooks hard, which is almost every launch, I believe it's pulling my rpm down more than I'd like. Also had a few times losing traction on green, so hoping this helps. If not, I can always go back to 450#, or loosen it up more. Also did a basic clutch inspection and everything appears ok to my untrained eyes. Temp gauge swap went easy, as expected. Didn't get to do a good cleaning on the car yet as I hoped, which I may not get time to do tomorrow. Hoping to get some TNT tomorrow afternoon before the main events Saturday & Sunday. Assuming all goes well this weekend, I may be going to the NHRA D2 National Open in Darlington next week.

In honor of Floyd,,, "Old Guys Rule".

Y'all have a great weekend.

Rubber meets the road & track today. High of 108* today & a little better Sat./Sun. but not much; plus, we start right in the middle of the day. I have lots to test/evaluate in not-so-great conditions. We'll see how it goes, I don't strategize with luck, but hope I find a bunch this weekend!

BTR, good luck this weekend & safe travels!

Go get'm Brian...

CCRA at GALOT last weekend didn't go so well for us. The good, great relaxing weekend, my happiness being at the dragstrip and lots of cool Stock & Superstock cars. The bad, my performance in 3 races over 2 days. Red is once again my favorite color. Had a whopping 2 green light starts, both in Saturdays 1st race time runs. At least a couple were really close to being green though. Among my other mistakes, 1st time run I held onto the line lock AGAIN, this time for the entire eighth mile. Another, forgetting to plug the battery charger into the generator. Another, 2 very poorly executed burnouts which led to less than stellar 60' times. Another, double bulbed my opponent while staging, thankfully just the dash for cash, but a little embarrassing nonetheless. Another, forgot to put my dial in on the window in 3rd race dash for cash. Another, left my jacket in the trailer before 2nd race 1st round eliminations. Parked car, ran back to trailer and someone was nice enough to give me a ride back in their cart. I sure as hell didn't feel this damm dizzy, but I sure as hell was.

Then more bad,,,, real bad... Hurt the engine on my last pass of the weekend. Went red, car ran it's best ET of the weekend, get back to the trailer and everything seems fine. Fired up to reposition car at the ramp, shut down and heard pfft pfft pfft as the engine went down. Get home, compression test verified my suspicion of a head gasket. Number 5 is at 70# while all others are 170#. No bueno for my plans to race the NHRA D2 National Open this weekend. Gotta plan for getting back together, just gonna take some time. Next few weeks are going to be super busy at home without the addition of race car repairs.

Hope y'all are having better fortune than me out there...

How silly of me... I forgot another mistake from my weekend... New digital tire pressure gauge went haywire. Took it apart to see if I could fix it and lost the nipple inside the valve end. Looked all over my pit space and couldn't find it. Had to resort to my old, very unreliable backup analog gauge. Back to back uses, it reads half pound difference up or down. Get home, grabbing tools to pull cylinder head, I find the little ******* nipple in with my wrenches... Thought I checked there at the track. LOL... Yep, I had enough dummy moments last weekend...

quick question , you have bracket raced the Hoosier 18209 30x9 c06 radial .
Were you happy , was it ok on regular prep ?
I am footbrake so may be easier .
I raced last weekend at NDRC event in Queensland . Went in on GY after 2 good meets in Sydney . Blew tyre off in 1 T&T but 4 x good passes . Then in qual it went first 2 fine then blew tyre off in Q3 .
On race day it blew tyre off in E1 but I got a mulligan for the win . Then swapped back to old PBR before going out in semi .
Checked Oz stock PBR - date is 0424 , not buying that .
So looks like Hoosier , It has been a few years since I last ran them .
Thanks

Tex

Yes, that was the very 1st radial I ever run...many...many...moons ago. I got 150 passes out of them & they worked great in the heat with a bracket prep track.

I still have them on the old rims for moving the car around in the off-season. Last time they were used about 7 years ago. I was having an issue launching so I decided to use them to test the launch out of the shop. The tires were probably 15 years old for the test. So, I did a John Force burnout on the shop's virgin concrete. Backed into the tracks & launched wheels up out of the shop. I still have the black marks in the shop.

This is quick recap of the last points races 11 & 12 of the year. On Sat. lost in 3rd round/Sun. I lost in the 2nd round. I'm still happy with my performances this past weekend.

This is what left a bad taste in my mouth for the points series. I was 7th in points coming in & that's where I finished. They only use your top 9 finishes out of 12 for the points total. I made all the races & I dropped a total of -48 points for losing in the 1st round 3 races, -16 points each race. Here's the bad taste, if I would have skipped/not raced 3 races. I would have 0 points deducted. This would have put me into 3rd place! I've known this for years & don't like the premise of getting rewarded for not racing.

Looks like next year I might be doing the same exercise of racing in S/Pro with no Delay Box. Next year I will be skipping/not racing 3 races!

thanks for the info .
As to points , they did that here years ago for track championship . Only lasted 1 year as quite a few unhappy campers .

Never cared for dropping any races in racing of any kind. They should all count in my opinion. Still, you did pretty darn good running against them box cars. Keep kickin their a$$es out there...

Thanks, BTR!

My focus changed this year to Index Racing, imagine that & bracket racing became the 2nd priority. Never thought that was going to happen.

Yes, I did very well against them BOX cars but mostly pipe racks. I'm pretty sure I was the only door car in the top ten of points. Add to the underdog status: I was on small radials, leaf springs, relatively high power & etc. I think you all get the point!

I'm proud of my performances & the car. It has been one heck of a run since Sept. 2025. Looking forward to 2027 but still have plans & goals for the last few races of 2026!

2BKING feels like his younger years. Winning was a regular occurrence! Smile

All that being said, LOL! About a month ago I decided to go heads-up street legal drag racing in Oct. I've somewhat been testing for this adventure while racing the last 2 index races. Plus, this weekend I'll be testing while bracket racing. I keep stacking shyt on my plate!

Here's what we're adding for this weekend in prep for heads-up racing:

The #1 thing is adding boost & I'm going from a 4.25" supercharger pulley to a 4". That will raise my supercharger rpm from 68,000 to 72,000; the max rating for my head unit is 74,000. The heads-up racers are spinning them well over 74,000 but I'm not going to do that.

I also found that we can no longer get my street legal 100 octane UL pump gas out West anymore & it appears the same for any Sunoco race fuel also. Anyway, I have enough of my 100 octane to test on Fri. & race Sat.; no big deal other than 105* plus temps. Sun. I'll be testing a new UL race fuel from Fuel Factory F109 UO; I have a rough tune for VP MS 109 & will use it for the new fuel on Sun.

I'm in prep & planning mode for the https://www.kingmanrt66streetdrags.com/ Oct. 9-11 for heads-up racing! I'm really looking forward to this event & it will be the 1st time leaning on this engine combo. I'm not going to set the world on fire because the street is a great equalizer. I'm hoping to run mid to high 5s with a lot of power management early in the run.

Above I mentioned going to a smaller supercharger pulley. I thought it would pick-up about 2-3 lbs. of boost; boy was I surprised with 6-6.5 lbs. of boost increase. The peak boost number were 21-21.5 lbs.

Now, for the fuel change Fri. & Sat. we ran our 260 GT fuel with additives & pulled -2* of timing. For Sun. we used the new to us Fuel Factory F109 UL fuel with the same tune-up. The fuel was only good for .02-.03 better ET. We know from our VP MS 109 testing we need a good amount of more timing & more fuel in the 5,500 rpm range & up. The learn table showed this for the Sun. runs & closed loop compensation added the needed fuel.

Changing over to the Hoosier DR3 DOT Radials they have been successful with 2 wins on piss poor prep & bracket prep tracks. The Kingman Street should fall in-between the prep we have tested on. Regardless we will have to manage the power.

The plan for the 1st test hit is a good solid no spin A to B pass as a baseline. It will use the tune-up & power management we used this past weekend for the points races.

While we have tested with 50 lbs. under the rear bumper that put our weight bias at 51% rear & 49% front & we tested with 25 lbs. closer to the rear-end & higher up. We decided to start with no ballast added, unless needed.
